D3Swimming.com has named Washngton & Lee’s Tommy Thetford its Athlete of the Week in men’s swimming and diving for meets through October 10th.
Thetford, a sophomore from Birmingham, Alabama, won the 50-yard freestyle in :20.95, leading Washington & Lee to an 157-91 dual meet win over Centre College Saturday. He also swam a :20.69 split in the freestyle leg of ‘s winning 200 medley relay.
As a freshmen, Thetford finished fourth in the 50-yard freestyle (:20.17) and fifth in the 100-yard freestyle (:44.44) at the 2015 NCAA Division III Swimming & Diving Championships in Shenandoah, Texas.
Thetford is being honored as Athlete of the Week for the first time in his career.
On the women’s side, D3Swimming.com has named NYU’s Noel Leung its Athlete of the Week for meets through October 10th.
The first-year Leung won both the 50 and 100 yard freestyles with times of 24.54 and 53.74 respectively contributing to the Violets 198-94 victory over SUNY Cortland. Leung also anchored NYU’s B medley relay.
Leung is also being honored as Athlete of the Week for the first time in her career.
