Whitworth and Puget Sound kept rolling right along heading into this weekend’s clash between unbeatens at Puget Sound Friday 1/21. Whitworth appears to be the clear favorite but the Loggers will do their best in defending their home waters from the Pirates. A full update of conference meets from this past weekend can be found at the NWC home page;
Individually, for the men Rory Buck of Whitworth broke his own pool record and went a very quick 56.71, establishing himself as a huge threat at NCAA’s in late March. Other outstanding performances of note were put in by Jaime Nusse of Whitman, Kevin Jones of Pacific Lutheran, Jack Zaharchuk of Puget Sound, and Chris Whitehead of Willamette. On the women’s side, Rachael Cazden dominated in her sprint events, continuing to exhibit why she is considered the top sprinter in the NWC. Other individual swimmers of note were Jennifer Benson of Whitworth, Caitlin Fuller of Puget Sound, Helen Jenne of Whitman, and Willamette’s Lauren Ballinger.
Most of the NWC schools will be back in action this weekend.
