MemberI think he had his appendix out in september or august. That might account for his times being off his best early in the season. Should be a good race with him and meyer in the 100 at conference.

Mac of the MIAC
MemberHe already has two MAC records. I must say that the below records are not as slow as I thought they would be. I had assumed that Young would own the freestyle records pretty easily. Adam Burke in 1992 was no slouch. The butterfly records are the slowest of the bunch.
50 Freestyle Sjon Swanson 21.62 2006
100 Freestyle Sjon Swanson 47.65 2006
200 Freestyle Adam Burke 1:42.25 1992
500 Freestyle Adam Burke 4:42.11 1992
1000 Freestyle Adam Burke 9:50.87 1992
1650 Freestyle Adam Burke 16:20.10 1992
100 Butterfly Chris McNeil 52.90 1980
200 Butterfly Sam Fishleder 2:02.69 2002
100 Backstroke Erik Nelson 54.28 2001
200 Backstroke Brian Deiger 1:58.05 1993
100 Breaststroke Sjon Swanson 59.65 2006

Chapel Partner
MemberWhy would he time trial the 100 back after already swimming it? Was he rested? Seems weird if he would rest at all for this meet, so I doubt it. I guess I just find it strange for anyone to time trial other than when tapered (he did get a B-Cut, but you’d think he’d get a better B or A cut at conference).
Note that Mitch Stepleton dropped about a minute in his mile at this meet as well (dropped about 5 seconds in his 500).
Mac of the MIAC and I thought we saw Young training at St. Kates last week. But I think the guy did some open turns, so it could have been a Nick Frost.

I obviously have no idea, but is there a chance he slipped bad on the start or missed a turn, something along those lines? Its the only reason I see for a TT without being shaved or a bad mistake and wanting to correct it with a TT. He did drop quite a bit of time in that TT, so that could be my only guess.

MemberWhat’s the pool like at Grinnell? If it’s a nice pool and he was feeling good, maybe he just wanted to get in an extra swim. Kind of like at a Club National Meet, where the time-trials are a big part of the meet.
