With Amundson and Hagemeyer officially out of eligibility , where does GAC go with their free relays? They’ve still got Auyeung, Wakefield, Stewart, and Hanson; but does that pull down the splits necessary to stay dominant? Hopefully GAC can recruit some stellar sprinters to keep the streak alive.

While we’re talking about it, what other roster spots are weak after this year’s graduating class? Not just GAC, but Olaf, SJU, Carleton, etc…

      Discuss.

Let’s face it. Hamline won’t be the same without me. I’m agile, like a cat. I always end up on all fours. Like a cat.

And that has what to do with swimming?

I’m too lazy to do the math, but if you take Hagemeyer and Amundson off the 200 and 400FRs this year, would either have made nat cuts? Won conference?

      I heard a rumor GAC is getting a diver… I know, I know, this can’t be true.

Well when you lose a 20.5 lead and 19.7 anchor and replace it with a 21.2 lead and a 20.9 anchor at best, you just added 1.8 seconds and that, my friends, is painful. Which would’ve put them in a three way tie for first.

On the 400 FR you’re losing two 44.7 anchors and picking up a pair of 45 high 46 lows, thus adding between 3 and 5 seconds and that, my friends, again is painful. However, at the conference level it’s still good enough to win. Can’t nobody touch the GAC 400FR.

Gasp! What!? Too bad it took losing this year for it to happen…

Well, Olaf is losing Anderson, Kukla, Thomas and Wareham. They are also losing all three of their conference divers. That could hurt them.

The Medley relay’s shouldn’t suffer too much. Meyer can step up to replace Kukla, and Olaf has never had a shortage of good breaststrokers. Though Bently is still a good 2 seconds behind Wareham.

Rumor has it however that Olaf is getting two great freestylers and one great flyer, so We could see Westby doing breast on the MR from now on.

Could hurt them? That’s like jumping on a grenade! Olaf and GAC have virtually the same level of swimming program, without their divers the upper hand goes back to GAC. Then again the Olaf diving coach is probably one the most talented diving coaches in the conference, if not in the state (regardless of team). I’d look for whatever recruits Olaf gets on the boards to make leaps and bounds of improvement.

I agree, Meyer should slide into Kukla’s spot without a hitch. Koch is a solid lock on the anchor spot. The big question will be where to put Westby. I think that’ll be up to the recruits. If the Oles land a solid breaststroker, throw him on the fly leg and vice versa.

Names, high schools, times, (ranks & serial numbers)? At this point it might be a little soon for that. In d3 you’ve never really landed a recruit until their sophomore year. Plenty of recruits change their minds right before school starts in the fall, or during their first season, etc.

But it would be nice to see some names and/or times of these guys you speculate about.

Sorry, just something I got through the grapevine. No details yet.

Work on that. The grapevine knows all, if you know which grapes to squeeze.

True, but not every grape is worth the squeeze. You have to be careful that you’re not pinching sour grapes (i.e. getting bad, wrong, or just plain stupid information).

Then again if you mash the grapevine you end up with wine, which can be rather tasty.

Actually I think if you mash the vine you end up with vine mash. I think if you mash the grapes you can end up with wine, but I think that mashing the vine is reserved as some sort of anger outlet for wine makers.

Yes, but if the grapes are still on the vine and you have a good sieve, you’ll still get the juice.
