First meet of the year is in the books: http://www.rose-hulman.edu/sports/swimming/0708results/centre.htm OK, make that the second (Millikin swam Lindenwood – http://www.millikin.edu/athletics/swimming/MUvs.LindenwoodINDY10-12-07.htm

My opinion is that R-H just made the CCIW a lot better this year. They’re not going to win but they will make people work to make Finals.

      What about other matchups?
      – Wheaton vs. Chicago- Ethan Cramer shows this is his breakout year.
      – Carthage at Wabash- All the Fresh Men, couldn’t help Carthage beat Wabash again.
      – Millikin at Monmouth-Coach King gets his first win
      – Millikin, North Central, Carthage at IWU. Lots of relays, lots of fun.
      – Augie vs. Alumni- I’m picking the alums.

What does WAEK spell? Or were you not trying to do the same thing?

I’m assuming they were trying to go for “WEAK”, but dyslexically failed.

In either case, Mr. Obvious and RhymeAndReason both made a poor decision when he or she pressed “Submit” without thinking about what he or she had written.

Hehe. I can’t read down, apparently. and I think my acrostic still was better. 🙂

Yeah, I’m a little bit dyslexic.

Wow, this is the most active this forums been in a L O N G time. I just hope Mr. Obvious’ sentiments aren’t held by a lot. At least that’s the sense I get from the lack of posts. C’mon where are those CCIW guys at?

Well at least one team has been instructed to not post here so that might temper the discussion a bit.

I should create a list of “Good Schools” and “Bad Schools” based on who is banned from d3swimming.com.

      Just kidding, coaches.

So we are sayin that Last year was not a breakout year for Cramer. I thought he swam pretty well. I have heard that people in the Wheaton family think he can go 4:05 in the IM this year. That would be nice.

I stand corrected. I’ve been informed that, said team’s swimmers may post, but are required to use their real names, no pseudonyms.

I agree that the addition of Rose-Hulman will make for a better meet. It probably spells the end of seeing exhibition swimmers swimming in finals. This probably won’t hurt IWU best kids, but probably hurts Millikin, Augustana and North Central, though two of those have new coaches so who knows?

Did any of these teams have alumni or intersquad meets?

exhibition swimmers haven’t been allowed to swim in finals, at least not in a long time (at conference, excepting timed finals, I believe). I also agree that adding Rose-Hulman is great for the league.

Swimmers entered into the meet as exhibition swimmers HAVE been permitted to swim in consols or finals (depending on entries) for at least the past four years.

Yeah I think that ex kids starting swimming at night probably around 03 if I remember correctly. But yes another team adds more depth

Was that the same year they upped it to 8 in finals? Good move both ways.

I want to say the first year they went with the top 8 was 2002. The first year in Carthage’s new pool. I could be wrong though.

    • #39509

Aucutally I think that Top 8 went into effect in 2003, at Wheaton, which was my freshman year, but it was still scored top 12, with consols only scoing 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th places. That changed my senior year so 2006, where all Top 16 places were scored at the meet (I think)
