UAA athlete of the week honors. Marin Hawk is the real deal.

Marin Hawk — Washington University — Ridgefield, CT (Ridgefield)

Freshman Marin Hawk of Washington University posted two NCAA Division III provisional qualifying marks in her first collegiate meet against NCAA Division I St. Louis University. Hawk cleared the provisional marks in winning the 50-yard freestyle (24.39 seconds) and the 200-yard freestyle (1:55.18). Hawk also took first place in the 100-yard freestyle (:54.14) as the Bears dropped a 164-134 decision to the Billikens.

Also some pretty decent begining of the year swims for Kelly Kono (5:10 500 and 10:37 1000)

Pretty good stuff…especially for this early in the season. Do the women have a breaststroker? If not that’s a hole that will hurt a bit, but they’re a pretty darn good team.

24.3 this early in the year is really impressive, might we see something in the 23.5 range, and if that is the case will that be good enough to win this year?

Leckey’s 21.9 and 54.2 in the backstroke were also pretty good

23.5 will not beat Becky Weima but it could be a top 3 swim.
