MemberI just saw Ryan Lochte rip off a new AR in the 2IM of 1:40.06, beating Phelps soundly. Then he swam around for maybe 15 minutes while the women swam the 50. Next he proceeded to beat all the sprinters (Lezak, Grevers, Cielo, Bousquet, et al.) at their own game with a 19.31. Wow.
Someone interviewed him on the loudspeaker after the swim, asking “How do you feel?” to which he responded “I’m going to bed.”
Might Lochte top Phelps in the Olympics? Or does MP have some kind of big meet mojo that can’t be matched?
Back to the MIAA: Mecklenburg Aquatic just went 3:08.62 in the 400 MR. How many MIAA teams will beat that this weekend in their 400 FR? I say 0, but might H, K, O, or C pull it off?

MemberOr more interestingly, how many under Club Wolverine’s 2nd place 4MR time of 3:10.59? Here I say 2.

MemberI doubt Phelps is fully rested for this meet. I’m not saying that Lochte is; however, I believe that Phelps is focused on the olympics. Moreover, this meet is in short course yards. Lochte has great turns, which made him a beast at the college level scy meets. Phelps…not quite as great in sc, but has been nearly unbeatable in lcm lately.

MemberAlso, I wouldn’t worry about Phelps for the Olympics – Bowman will have him prepared. As long as he doesn’t prove to be the perfect poster boy for why dry season is a good idea (again).
