MemberDoes anyone have any real information about incoming freshman?
The May 1st deadline is fast approaching and I assume kids are making their final decisions?
Why are coaches and swimmers so quite about this subject?

MemberNot all schools have an official May 1st deadline for starters.
There’s no such thing as a letter of intent in D-III so you might actually have a kid deposit and then not some in the fall.
I’m sure there are a host of reasons.

Yeah, we had something like that happen a few years ago. Also, you won’t hear a lot of talk about recruits until either the summer or the fall… just the way it goes.

MemberSchools can’t announce them until the recruit has signed a “paid acceptance of admission” or something like that. It basically means they paid their first tuition deposit. Some coaches don’t announce because they don’t want to look bad if a kid backs out and goes to another school. Some keep recruiting up to the first day of classes.

I’m aware of no such rule.
It’s D-III…there are no letters of intent and no guarantees either way -

There is a rule – 13.10.7
Announcement of Acceptance. Publicity released by an institution concerning a prospect’s commitment to attend the institution shall occur only after the paid acceptance of the institution’s written offer of admission and/or financial aid. Such communications may be released to media outlets at the institution’s discretion; however, an institution is prohibited from purchasing or receiving commercial advertising (e.g., print, media or billboard) to be used to identify a prospect by name or picture. Violations of this bylaw do not affect a prospect’s eligibility; however, the violation shall be considered an institutional violation per Constitution 2.8.1. So . . . um anyone know who is going where? Collegeswim has some names up, but guess that’s who the Carthage coach knows about. -

MemberFairly certain Boss was 56.7. Espinosa had a senior cut LCM. Those are the two that come to mind.
Ok now I am sure….

Championship: 1.Josh Boss, Jenison, 56.70That is a huge pickup for JHU. Congrats to George. Fedderly is an amazing breaststroker, now he has someone to train with and if Keeley isn’t on the medley to start, he will be more than ready when Fedderly graduates. Not a bad front half for the next few years at JHU, Thomas to Fedderly/Keeley for the next three years.

MemberYeah that is a pretty huge pickup you have to figure he would be in the 55 mid range by the end of the year.

Why? 1 second improvement is huge if you are a 1:00 going to a 59 much less 56.7 to 55 mid. I wouldn’t count on that at all. I’m not saying it won’t happen, but I certainly would bet against it.

MemberYeah but this kid is jumping from the High School ranks into a very successful college program with great coaching. IN my experience that is worth a second in a 100.
