MemberI got a look at the psych sheet (not sure if it’s on the website yet), and here are the pre-scratch entries of the guys whom we weren’t sure exactly what they’d swim:
Muriel: 1,000, 500, 200, 2 Fly
Matej: 2 IM, 4 IM, 1 Fly, 1 Back (almost 3 seconds ahead of Parks), 2 Back, 2 Fly
Corcoran: 2 IM, 4 IM, 2 Breast
Ginder: 50, 200, 2 Back
Crook: 500, 200, 100
Chagas: 50, 1 Fly, 100So only the FSU guys are keeping their entries mysterious. I’m pretty surprised that Corcoran’s doing the 2 Breast rather than the mile, I do not see him cracking the top 3 in that race.

MemberYou never know what can happen and that’s why we put more events and then decide based on how we are feeling..
For example, William cut his finger pretty bad the other day and is in trouble..
Another example, my freshman year I was in only 3 events and then I regret that because I had a better shot at winning 200 IM then beating Ritter in 100 back and since then I decided to always go with more events.. I lost to Ritter in 100 back and I feel I would have won 2IM if I swam..
I think this is the first year other teams didn’t use that, Mike was always entered in many events -

MemberSo we know that Matej will walk away with 100 Back, and we also know that 200 Free is shaping up to be maybe the best race of the meet.
We already knew that for 100 fly, 100 Free will be interesting as well as either 200 Back or 200 Fly whichever Matej goes with.
I am a little surprised by Corcoran’s 2 Breast as well. hm.. Now that’s going to be a heck of a race
So who will be the high point swimmer?
It seems that 1-1-2 will do it. Ginder will lose 50 free. I don’t see Muriel winning both 2 and 5 free. Chagas can’t win all of them. Corcoran can’t win 2 Breast. Crook can’t win 100 Free. And now Matej, can he win both 100 fly and 200 back?! Tough. Any thoughts? -

Memberfranchise: did William really cut his finger? This seems like a trick. This kid barely made finals in the 500 free and won from an outside lane one year. Last year he was entered in the 1000 with no time and swam in the slow heat. I overheard some W&L parents in the stands complaining that it wasn’t fair that he swam in that heat. This year he has no time reported again. Will he swim this? I didn’t see him in any results with a 1000 time reported. What’s the deal? You guys are sneaky-sneaky.
Just kidding. Good luck to you and to all the Bluegrass Mountain swimmers. Enjoy the weather. We’ll be freezing.

MemberNo, its not a trick, I dont know what he will swim and I don’t think anyone knows at this point, I know that Coach Pat will have long nights ahead of him when deciding what to scratch him from..
As for previous years, last year he just wanted to swim 1000 in the morning because in the afternoon he wanted to go fast in the 800 relay.. It could have been only “unfair” to him because he ended up in the second place and if he swam in the afternoon he could have only been higher than that, although Clark swam an excellent race, so probably not..
I feel for your freezing, I have been freezing for 45 days.. -

Memberits a billiant plan, has worked for many swimmers in the past and makes 100% sense…..and looks like the easiest race this year….but this year the 1000 is the night before so there isn’t as much advantage to enter with slow times, correct? Or are there other events that first night?

MemberCorrect, but he didn’t swim this year a 1000 nor a 1650 (can’t have a split) so I don’t think he was allowed to have a time.. either way he doesn’t have a time so if he swims it he will be in the first heat, hopefully we make there in time

Chagas will not be in the top 2 in the 50, even though he’ll be in the hunt for the 100 and the 1 fly. I don’t think Corcoran will make the podium in the 2 breast. Muriel should win the 1000 if he swims it, but Crook won’t be denied in the 500 and the same goes for he and Ginder in the 200. So the person most likely to go 1-1-2, with a good shot at 3 wins, is definitely Tomas.

MemberI have just seen the heat sheets for the 1000 and Thursday morning. Muriel has scratched the 1000, so he’ll be 500/200/2 Fly. Franchise, you are not in the 2 IM, which leads me to believe you’ll be in your usual 1 Fly/1 Back/2 Back.
