MemberDenison has a freshman coming in from Pittsburg, PA (North Allegany, HS). It seems to me like he is probably on the bubble to make nationals. I’ve never met him, didn’t recruit him, don’t have any special knowledge about him. From the little research that I’ve done I’ve been able to dig up a time of 53.91 in the 100 back and a 1:56.64 in the 200 IM.
Do you think he will make nationals?

Odd discussion but it gives me something to do. He is about what i was coming in for backstroke but much better in the IM. I made it eventually, so i think he will too, but this isn’t his year… although the momentum of “chasing” Kenyon could help.
When were you on the bubble? Weren’t you a multiple time NCAA Champion? Impressive.

MemberIts true, I am just trying to make conversation in this forum. Coming in I was about a second faster in both the IM’s and backstroke (but my back was with a toes up start), and I made it easily. Of course, it was easier to make nationals back then, and I made it in the 400 IM, an event that I didn’t really have a time in coming into college.
What I’m getting at with this is that I think that it is pretty reasonable for a DU kid to drop 1 second in the back and 2 seconds in the IM, and I think that if he drops 2 seconds in the IM he will get in. It would be close, but DU gets the benifit of the doubt for that time drop in my eyes.Does anybody know how much time Charlie Grodecki dropped last year? He squeeked in in the back as I recall…

MemberWell I would really have to watch this kid swim. If he is a hack in the water then I would say with some technique work he might be selected in the IM, but again I don’t know unless I see this kid swim. ANyone know what he did as a junior in HS times wise, that could be a bit of an indicator as well. Moral of the story is if Greg Parini gets ahold of any kid with times like this he has a shot to get in

MemberI know for a fact that this kid is the real deal. I wish him nothing but the best at such a fantastic program like Denison. His work ethic will undoubtedly serve to put him in the best possible position. Good Luck.
