MemberWe have heard a lot of talk about K and Hope, and most think Hope has the MIAA title won and K will close the gap on both Hope and Olivet. I believe Olivet may actually repeat.
Who do they lose? I have heard rumors about a couple of transfers out, but nothing special. They also gain Yuri, who did not have much training before last year’s MIAAs.
Their freshman class is no slouch either… they bring in mid D, which was their biggest weakness and a sprinter that could end up being the best in the MIAA next year. They also add depth in other events. Don’t forget, not all mid D studs come in as studs, so watch out.
I know it’s not what people want to hear, but with their current team, the amount of points they won by, and the fact that studs alone won’t win an MIAA title, i think Olivet may rein supreme in 07.

MemberGood luck finding someone to vehemently disagree with you. Olivet, despite being the ’06 MIAA champion, is still a question mark. All we know is that they have been better every year since Stubbs took over. That, in and of itself, is enough to give them the benefit of the doubt. Of course, if we assume that they will continue to improve at the same rate as they have in past years, is there a chance that another team could improve enough more drastically to regain the advantage? While the studs coming in will be a powerful force, given that they are themselves question marks with no record (compared to Olivet’s record of improvement), it is unfair to give them the advantage.

MemberBy the way, I’m not a “Stuck up Liberal.” I’m more of a “Pretentious Progressive.” I think it has a better ring to it, alliteration is way under-used in our society.

It’s a bit strange to me that you suggest the amount of points Olivet won by is one of the reasons they will win again this year. The 27 point margin of victory is by far the smallest the league has seen in the past 10 years (possibly longer).
If you had suggested Hope graduated a certain amount of points and Olivet graduated much less or could indicate more than just a few vague details concerning their class I would be more likely to believe they are capable of holding off Hope. However, with the details we currently have concerning the class Hope brought in I am hard pressed to believe Olivet can will defend their title.
Plus, do you really EVER want to see Olivet win again?

They crushed Kalamazoo last year and didn’t lose a lot and added some valuable components they were missing last year. If you’re sleeping on the knights, (*Pulls out Sword*) they will cut you up!
If the twenty points that Calvin beat Kzoo by is a “crush,” then the 27 points that Olivet beat Hope by is insurmountable.
Lee Corso (the guy on ESPN) is a total dumb ass. So I guess this Lee Corso impersonation is a pretty good one.

MemberMan, I love Lee Corso. Some people like the leaves changing colors, but my favorite thing about fall is the return of College Gameday. But yeah, he doesn’t know what he is talking about most of the time.
