MemberOk I realize this wasn’t going to work if the two other people on the NESCAC board didn’t post. But here are my overall thoughts on the meet.
Williams pulled it out with depth again. Again I made a rookie mistake by picking Amherst but I was right about williams vs midd. Overall I thought it was a pretty lackluster women’s meet. Its possible that a lot of the top swimmers may be saving it for nationals but usually this meet seems a bit deeper/faster. Just one instance that comes to mind: I recall in 2003 4:37 being in the consol heat of the 400 IM, now that would have you in the top 4. I hope these teams were saving it because i would like to see the NESCAC perform well at nationals. nescacfan, how did your daughter do?

MemberSorry, I could not comment during the meet. I didn’t have internet in my room. As we all know, Williams won the meet, But, if you were at the meet, you felt that the real battle was between Amherst and Middlebury.
Amherst won 11 events, Middlebury won 6 while Williams won only three. Williams swimmers just piled up points even in events such as the 100 back in which Amherst finished 1-2 and Williams kept close with their points in the 8, 9 and 12. Williams cemented their victory by placing 5 swimmers in the 200 breast finals.
Amherst won four of the relays and placed second in the fifth. Middlebury won the other relay and placed second in three. Williams best relay effort was a second in the 200 medley.
Amherst and Middlebury both should finish higher at Nationals this year than Williams.
