MemberThis weekend are the Northfield Relays, both Olaf and GAC are supposedly attending. Hopefully we will get to see a preview of how this year’s teams are shaping up. True it is only a month into the season, so not everyone will be up to speed (due to their off-season training or lack thereof), but it will begin to shed a little light on the freshmen and the team as a whole.

MemberThe MIAA and NCAC both had relay meets this past weekend and it told us exactly what you were saying. It shows where people are right now. Sometimes it helps show where a freshman will be, good or bad and sometimes people put too much stock into it. I am excited to see it and predict Olaf will look better at this point than GAC, they usually do.

MemberThere’s rumor that the meet is split into a men’s meet and women’s meet with the men at Olaf and the women at Carleton. Any truth to this?

MemberLook for the Carleton women to win the breaststroke relay. They seem to have more than their share of breaststrokers this year, including Kate Alexander (yes, sister of Becky). She’s a strong breaststroker (1:07 and 2:25). And look out, she’s even stronger in IM (2:09 and 4:34).
Perhaps in a couple of years, Carleton can also acquire another Alexander sister who swims a mean 200 free (1:53). -

MemberNo 15M, there is no truth to the rumor the meet is split, seeing as how there is a co-ed relay that would make it kinda difficult. Now we all get to be crammed into one small pool deck and leave no room for spectators!

MemberActually Eladron, you are wrong and 15M is correct. The meet is split between men and women. The men’s meet is being held at Carleton and the women’s at St. Olaf. Compare Carleton’s men’s and women’s schedules for proof:

In addition, I also think that the divers are holding their meet at Northfield High on the same day. -

MemberThe meet was scheduled over the summer to be held as a split meet, but once the season started it was determined to be more fun and exciting to hold it as a co-ed meet. Yes the online schedules say that it is split, but as of monday when entries were due it is a combined meet.

MemberWhat are the co-ed relays? I’d think olaf and gac should have some exciting co-ed relays against one another.

Memberbest meet ever. My highlight? laura haynes’s 100 IM. Man does she have some wacky speed.
Also: The olaf mens B 100 breast relay really surprised me, but then again I’m so prone to surprise it’s surprising.
