MemberThat’s right, i have no shame in doing it now. I think we know most of the freshmen, or at least have approx times if we don’t have a name. I’m also bored and the talk about MVP next year seemed to die. yes, there is some bias here, otherwise we couldn’t argue!

MemberI don’t see any bias. Except against KZOO in all the relays, against Dekker in the 400 IM, and against fonzi in the 200 breast.
KZOO wins all the relays, Dekker wins the 400 IM, and fonzi wins the 200 breast.

400 FR: 1. Hope 2. Olivet 3. CalvinI cant argue with most of what you said, but i feel (being hope bias in some and others i think different people will win) that there could be a couple changes
400 IM: Dekker – mainly because i think he has a really great year coming up for him
100 fly: Fetters or Waterstone – i think these two will be at a deadlock for this event
100 free: CVB – obviously hope bias towards chas, bu t i think after seeing what he can do with almost a year off he is only gonna get better and better
50 free: Espinosa or Hope transfer – i say hope transfer because I here he is much like a Kurtis blow. Of course not THE kurtis blow, but he will imitate much of what he has done
400 MR: I think its a toss up between either 3 you listed silentP therefore with a mathematical equation of 3! there are 6 possibilites for the top 3 between hope zoo and olivet

MemberWhen are you guys going reveal this alleged transfer? I mean it is almost August, if he hasn’t confirmed he is coming by now, he isn’t coming. I seem to recall that there were some issues that precluded revealing his name earlier, but at this point…

Memberhmmm…..i don’t know what to think about this transfer guy
there’s a few races where i have a bit of a different opinion:
100 fly: toss up with bacon, fetters, koji and waterstone….i’d give the edge to bacon though, i believe his best time is still faster than the other 3
200 free: CVB had a nice swim at nationals last year, i think he should be able to take this one
100 free: cvb again, but this can end up being a crap shoot with hennigar, cvb, esinosa (maybe a 3rd event?)

MemberI am not posting any names for the time being, but I am confirming a D1 transfer coming to hope. The proof… I’m living with him. Gonna be a great year for incoming swimmers and returners alike for all teams in the MIAA.

MemberNo name? If you toss a name out there is this dude going to un-transfer or something? I would think it is safe at this point to just put it out there.
Okay, well, if not a name, how about giving us some times? I mean, the radio has him as a possible winner of the 50 and we’ve already heard that he’s a sprint freestyler (Sprint freestyler going to Hope? What are those odds?). But what kinds of times did he have last year? Or if he took a year off, and I think we’ve all seen now that doing so can be okay, what were his h.s. times?
I have to say that I’m a little skeptical. No one else has mentioned him as possibly making national cuts (in the thread dealing with that subject), despite the fact he will “imitate” much of what Blohm has done.

MemberI have a feeling that his name hasn’t been mentioned because the very act of mentioning his name will strike fear into the hearts of men everywhere. Or maybe this is just a very elaborate hoax that’s been made up to throw a little intrigue into an otherwise slow summer – kind of like the Loch Ness monster, if you will. Or that monster from Lake Okanogan in the northwest somewhere.

MemberThis much I know: the reason the swimmer doesn’t want his name out is that he does not want to go through the recruiting process again. He felt a little burned by the agressiveness of certain coaches and would prefer that they not know he is a “free agent” again. But now that it is almost August…

Memberisn’t it against ncaa rules to actually recruit people who are considering a transfer?
the reason his name isn’t out is simple…..he’s hasn’t completely decided or registered at hope for next year or there’s some sort of “glitch”……maybe this guy swam on the fully funded cuban national team for 4 years and doesn’t know if he really has any eligibility….or maybe he was ineligible, academically at his last school and it might carry over.
sounds a little fishy, but then again so are a lot of rumors that have come up since the end of the season

Yes, it is against NCAA rules unless he announces his intentions to leave the team and pursue other options. If he makes it official, but letting the school know and havign them contact the other schools of choice, then it can be done… but until then, it is hands off.

Eh, I’m more interested in Chipotle burritos than the Hope transfer at this point, even as much as he is being hyped up. Also, on the note on saying he’ll do things similar to Blohm is, in my opinion, downplaying what Blohm has done, becoming the second best sprinter in MIAA history.

MemberBrendon Ray’s not swimming at Hope next year. I’ve talked to the guy, and he’s not leaving Oakland. The Ray from Holland everybody’s excited about is Matt, who’s a good swimmer, but not Blohmlike.

MemberIt has been said that he is slightly off a ‘B’ cut in the 50 but not the top sprinter on Hope’s team next year. We are also under the assumption that he did not improve last year at the d1 school he attended (or maybe that is just me).
Seems to me that IF he is a Michigan boy that would narrow the list to:
D1:
Luke Ortego – Rockford 21.48/47.1…west michigan kid…Oakland U
Brendon Ray – Holland 21.37…Oakland U. rumor has been shot down
Brad Dotson – Jenison 21.28…UMich (but has a B cut)D2:
Phil Cole – BC Lakeview 21.22 (B Cut)…Air Force
Steve Kurti – BC Lakeview 21.45…Western Kentucky
Dan Glisky – Andover 21.71…?
Tim Giblin – Midland Dow 21.82…Wayne St. (d2)
Andy Kellogg – Chelsea 21.74…Oakland UI can’t imagine there would be this much hype over a 21.7 or worse which really leaves us 3 guys without B cuts. My money is on Ortego or Kurti. Again, this is assuming he is FROM Michigan.

MemberBased on what I know the guy is just off B cut in the 50 and a 47 high in the 100. I am not sure it really matters who it is though, becuase he can just be “21 mid 47 high guy” when talking about who will swim what at leagues.

MemberThere were a few of the Oakland freshmen this year who noted to other Athletes at the Mid-Continent Conference Championships that they were going to transfer. To where, was everyone’s speculation but it wouldn’t shock me if someone didn’t end up at Hope this year.

MemberWell, obviously i have a few points of disagreeance…
the easy one is the 100 fly, ellis will win this…
I think Dekker will win the 200IM in a close race….
Fonzi will win the 50, and go 20. …
Ellis will also win the 100 and break the school record, going under 46…
Vanderbroek will win the 200 free….
And don’t post what i said for winners before, everyone can change their opinion like Britney used to change boob sizes
Hey Chas, who’s your roommate right now? I hope school is treating you well.
