      Stevo’s post (about Kalamazoo being Notre Dame)got me thinking, if each MIAA swim team was an NCAA D1 football team, who would they be?

      Albion = Michigan State

      Shouldn’t they always be better than they actually end up? For whatever reason, this team never seems to live up to their talent.

      Alma = Baylor

      Not really a whole lot of success for the Scots, but some new blood could inject some life into this program.

      *Adrian = SMU

      Yeah, I know they don’t have a program, but they used to – And so did SMU (and for anyone that wants to argue that SMU still has a program, their record since 1989 begs to differ).

      Calvin = Purdue

      Relatively successful program, generally has lots of talent, but usually gets squeezed by the bigger teams.

      Olivet = Rutgers

      Both have had their “wait a minute, when did they become good?” moments over the past few years. Although, to be fair, Olivet seems a little bit better at pretending they’ve been there before.

      Hope = Oklahoma

      Strong tradition, and this year is no different. Change the names on the jerseys (or warmups), and they seem to still be able to do one thing, run the ball (or sprint).

      Kalamazoo = Nebraska

      As much as it pains me to say this, the parallels are there. Legendary coach retires, team takes a dive. Legendary coach returns to replace incompetent Athletic Director (hasn’t happened yet, but PLEASE?). Plus they hate Oklahoma, and Oklahoma hates them back.

      Come on, this is obviously South Florida. Not along ago, they didn’t have a team. They have had great success lately and are now getting good recruits (to keep the tradition and not be a flash in the pan). I even saw a piece where people were whining about the academic standards being lower there (it was Alabama who complained, which is funny).
