MemberHey guys,
I’m looking at flights and hotels for MIAAs and am trying to figure out the most economical and fun way to get there and where to stay. I’ll also need some help from some of you along the way:
Getting from Airport to Holland – Friday evening
Kristin and I are planning on flying in Friday afternoon/evening from Atlanta and we are hoping to catch a ride with somebody coming from either Detroit or Chicago on Friday afternoon.Getting from Holland to Kzoo – Saturday evening
We are also planning on going to Kalamazoo on Saturday night – we’d love a ride.Getting from Kzoo to Airport – Sunday afternoon/evening
We intend to get an afternoon/evening flight back to Atlanta on Sunday. Any takers?Hotel in Holland
I’d suggest staying at the Days Inn. We’ve stayed there before and it does the job. Kristin and I will be getting our own room, but it would be sweet if we had a large group staying there. Use the poll with this post to mark your preference.Hotel in Kalamazoo – Saturday night
Kristin and I are talking about just finding floors and couches to crash on that night (Bob-o?), but we may also want to get a hotel room at the Comfort Inn. Any thoughts? -

MemberHmmm… it’s looking like I am going for sure this year — so you would have a ride from Detroit on Friday if that’s where you’re headed.
Jussi is about 50/50 on making it this year, but I am waiting on the Millers as to where I am staying in GR. Saturday? Sure, I’ll be up for going to Kzoo. I have parents/brother/dirtyfloorofcurrentswimmer to stay at in Kzoo. -

MemberYes, the Chateau Bellevue (I’m trademarking that) will be operational that evening. Booking is on a first-come, first-served (or first-passed-out) basis. Reservations can be accepted, providing adequate incentive is provided.

MemberRobbins, does the offer still stand? What timeframe on Friday? We are going to try and get in as early as possible, but it looks like Kristin has class until about noon, putting us into DTW at around 4-5. We haven’t purchased tickets yet, so we still have some flexibility. If at all possible we’d like to make it to the meet on Friday night, but know that since Kristin insists on going to that pesky thing called “class” we may be getting in a bit later.

MemberIdeally, I would like to leave Detroit around that 4-5 PM time, but if it is closer to 6 PM that would be fine. I’m pretty flexible, ultimately.

-pfau? (i don’t think he is because he’d rather go hang out in montreal)First of all, I have never been to Montreal, my boss works in Toronto so I am there once a quarter, but not Montreal.
Second of all, I won’t be attending because they moved MIAAs to fall on the same weekend as MIACs, and since it is my sister’s last conference meet, I have to attend. I guess I will be hanging out with Mac of the Miac, Chapel Partner and co….
Also, wasn’t Scott possibly attending? Any word on that?

MemberMiller will be around — I think Portenga might have his own conference meet that weekend, not sure.
Last I talked with Jussi he was 50/50 on coming.

Put it at 20/80 now. Trying to swing a Vegas trip, gotta pick my battles. Oh and I assume that Turtle is going.
Derek: Crashing on a couch becomes out of the question when you turn 25. I believe you still qualify though you have always been mature for your age, so….

MemberBah, Vegas will be there for the foreseeable future, at least until the desert finally reclaims it… how often will you see a three-way league meet this close?

MemberAlright, we purchased our flight today. Robbins, you will be happy to see that we will be there in plenty of time for your 4-5pm window. We are fine waiting at the airport until you are ready, so even if you end up closer to 5 that’s cool with us.
Flight Details
Departing: Friday, February 15, 2008
Atlanta, GA (ATL) to Detroit, MI (DTW)
Arrive DTW: 3:31 PMReturning: Sunday, February 17, 2008
Detroit, MI (DTW) to Atlanta, GA (ATL)
Depart DTW: 3:11 PMCan somebody help us get to the airport on Sunday?
Hotel
I just put a hold on 3 rooms with two beds each at Days Inn. One of them is for me and Kristin. If I don’t call to give them a credit card number then we have to check in by 4pm on Friday, so I’d like to call them back on February 13th to confirm the reservation and cancel the 3rd room if necessary. The rate is about $50 per room. -

MemberI will try and be out to the airport at 4 PM at the latest.
If I can, I’d like to reserve one of those rooms… Turtle (if he comes), or the Hope Womens’ team can join me there. -

MemberPerfect! BTW, my number is 347-907-4213
You and your Turtle can have a room. Up until now nobody else has RSVP’d for a room.
Room 1: Me and Kristin
Room 2: Robbins and his Turtle
Room 3: You? -

MemberI will most likely be coming so I can get my fill of New Holland Brewery and embarrass myself at the alumni meet. Oh yeah, and to cheer on the Hornets too.
