Memberdoes anyone know what picture they put on the cover for the program for mens nats? i’m guessing no one has seen it yet but figured i’d ask so people would know to look when they get to the meet.
reason i ask is cause they got a really sweet shot of me last year and thought there might be a chance they use it for this years cover.

I’m sure the NCAA wanted a picture of someone actually swimming, not throwing his goggles halfway down the pool 😯

MemberGod I was worried for a second there that I lost my mind. When I read A Duda was on the cover of the program, my first thought was “isn’t that the kid who said ‘our (Hope’s) relays are going to kick ass’ then he decided on KZoo, then he Calvined out eventually?”
Thank goodness that was a fleeting thought and I had to laugh at myself for being such a dumbass. If you want to see someone other than a Kenyon swimmer on the cover, you’ll have to make a rule that you have to be born in this country to be on the cover.

Racist
I don’t know who else has been on it in recent years, but I wouldn’t be surprised if MCB was and I do know Carlos Vega was, both of which were born in this country.

MemberP, you missed the intent, and obviously the sarcasm of my post. I know Kenyon has many American-born swimmers (just not that many that are All-World talent). My point was that Kenyon is very good at bringing in international athletes. My point was NOT to say that it’s unfair or cheating or anything else. It was meant to be funny…nothing more.
Also, to be from another country does not necessarily mean you are of another race. There was nothing racist about it. Ethnicist maybe???
Again…sarcasm

MemberALong those lines, all 4 of Kenyon’s swimmers in Consols of the 200 IM were foreign swimmers. Kind of neat actually.

MemberHow exactly does Kenyon get so many international students?
International students are not eligible for financial aid and usually need a lot of financial help. I guess they are all really smart and earn academic scholarships.

MemberIn terms of Kenyon’s foreign athletes I am not sure how they get all of them, but Steen is probably one of the top 5 recruiters in all of swimming. If he can get a ton of foreign athletes to Kenyon imagine what he could do if he was at Auburn. Maybe he should have applied for the Auburn job

why would steen leave? he’s a god in d3 swimming. he’s built a dynasty. im sure he’s got plenty of family and friends in ohio. i wouldnt change a thing. he’s pretty much living the coaches dream right now. sure it’d be nice to go to d1, but i have a feeling d1 is a much different creature. guys just arent as motivated to swim. you have people staying on the team just to get scholarships. id stay put if i were him. as a young coach, maybe he’d make the switch but at this point, he’s staying put.
