MemberOk, I know everyone is dying to talk about this. First, we need order of events. There will be a mile and 4 IM on Sat. Who wins what? How will Carthage factor in? Will there be two heats of every event? Does Hope have a shot at K in the 4 med? Great matchups too…CVB v. Fleming in 2 fr, Julio v. Richardson in 500, mile, Ellis v. Heyboer in bks, Dekker v. Nelis in flys/IM

Means everyone will likely swim their best events rather than matching up with each other.
Hope wins both of their duals, K loses both, and therefore, Carthage splits

No.
Only if Ellis is out.

Member2 heats of each event, 4 people from each team. You can swim 3 events each day and they can be of any combo, even 3 individuals. So, someone could swim 6 indy’s and no relays.

MemberI think Carthage’s team is a very strong dual meet team as is Kzoo’s. Hope really has not had any competition yet this year so it will be interesting to see what they have in store when they are actually trying to win. It should be one of the most fun meets of the year to compete in and to watch. I also dont think any one team will run away with it becuase each team is very different in their strong events.

MemberNah, you’ve got the 17th, 19th and 21st nationally ranked teams from last year. Probably will not keep too many outside of those respective schools glued to the refresh icon for results.

MemberWell P just so you know Nelis’s nickname should be better. Mainly becuase it doesnt make sense or rhyme. Nelis is pronounced like NEEEEEElis. Unless we pronounce Ellis’s name wrong is it really EEELIS? Anyway your predictions look pretty good except the 1 free I think will be a Hope swimmer.

MemberActually Ryan has two uncles that swam for Kazoo. Fred and Pat. Fred, 4 years, Pat, freshman year only. He did, however, transfer to Hope and swam there as well.

MemberWe know that Carthage is swimming very well right now, and will most likely win each of the duals, but what about the end of the season? Are they going to continue the tradition of swimming well in season and blowing up during taper compared to other teams? Not to mention, I don’t think there is a single person on either Hope or K’s team that gives a rat’s rear end about Carthage at this meet, so why pay attention to a team that falls hard at the end of the season every year?

That was not the case last year as they swam exceptional at NCAAs. I would be less worried about the name on the cap or suit and more worried about having fun and racing against good competition… and trying to figure out where you’ll sit when you’re done because it’s so small.

Memberi agree, their breaststrokers swam really well at ncaa’s and managed a top 20 finish without any relays. earheart has a good of a program in kenosha. plus a nice pool…with deck space.

http://www.k-swimming.net/results/kzoohopecarthagewomen1.php?id=407I only heard the K-Hope men’s score, which is K 79-69 Hope. Someone could probably score out the other ones, if you feel so inclined. Because of a quantum tunneling effect present in our femtosecond timing system, we were unable to get results from IST and Hy-tek, and were forced to resort to the super old-fashioned method of using watches. Hopefully tomorrow we’ll have the timing system back in order without any weirdness or entanglement, and all will be well. I’ll also try to get the results put up in the database, as they were last season, though this may take some more time…

K did not win the medley (overall), but won the FR.. i would not have bet on that no matter the odds.

MemberHere’s what I added up:
Women:
Hope 97 – Kzoo 51
Hope 79 – Carthage 67
Carthage 92 – Kzoo 56Men
Kzoo 79 – Hope 69
Carthage 97 – Hope 51
Carthage 96 – Kzoo 52Considering they won the 200 free relay, I’d expect KZoo to pull away from Hope. Carthage looks (on paper) pretty sharp, at least winning some close ones. Anyone know if they rested at all? Diving and the relays aren’t in their favor though so it’d be cool if Kzoo could make a run at them.
Anyone have some live reporting from the meet?
SilentP goes 2 for 8 on his predictions. So going on his lineup, here’s what I’ve got – admittedly the picks are easier:
2 med – Zoo takes the short medley
mile – Pelka – this is a gimme
50 – Vogelzang – I heard he touched out Davis anyway
Back – Drake, I would say Ellis, but after seeing the 200. How did they split on the relay?
200 – Heyboyer in a suprise move.
Breast – Schranck
1fly – Decker
4IM – Heyboer wins again
4fr – 4 guys under 50 in the 100, you gotta have Hope -

MemberEllis was ahead at the 100 of the 200 back. It doesn’t show due to the lack of splits, but I’ll contribute that much.
Also just a bit ahead after the first leg of the medley.

MemberZoo actually didnt win the 200 free relay. When Hope showed for diving this morning it was corrected and have a 4 point lead before diving.

MemberI was gonna say, on deck it looked like Hope won the relay, but Zoo gave them a hell of a battle. I was backup timing/running/loading the starters pistol – yes, there was a starters pistol. Anyways, here are what I thought were some noteworthy swims last night:
400 Medley – By my watch, Ellis was out in about a 53.3. Unofficial, yes, but still fairly impressive. I also got Fonz at about 59 high, at which point the numbers got too big and I stopped paying attention to the watch.
200 IM – Great race between Dekker and Heyboer – 1:59 at this point of the season is very impressive.
100 Free – Best race of the night. The officials met behind the blocks after the race to sort it out, and their winning order was way off from one another (I think one official had lane 3 winning, and the other official had lane 3 third).
200 Free Relay – K really surprised me on this one, Bazzell was brought it home in a 21 mid (don’t know any of the Hope splits, courtesy of our stone age technology). Best part about the race was how pissed the Carthage guys were after getting third.
All in all, some pretty good swims for a meet that started 15 minutes late
(20 minutes if you take into account the embarassing National Anthem, which was performed by either Boyz II Men or All 4 One). -

http://www.k-swimming.net/results/trimeet.php?id=406 for the men,
http://www.k-swimming.net/results/trimeet.php?id=407 for the women.I don’t have scores again, but Carthage won both their duals and K split theirs.
