Hope wins but what happened to Kalamazoo? Lake Forest, led by Hope alum Chester, pulls off the upset against Kzoo, but some events didn’t even have any Hornets in them. No Fonsy and Dekker, but Ellis was around.
Heyboer takes it to the haters and does 2:00.49 in the 200 fly, which might be the 3rd best time in the MIAA right now. Heyboer also gets a new meet record in the 500 with a nifty 4:41.53. I thought to myself a while ago that the 400 IM, 2 Fly, and 500, some of Hope’s weaker events, could benefit from Heyboer being in them. I think he could definitely compete in those events, but is it possible (because it’s probably necessary) for him to win them?
While Ellis’s sprints weren’t great in season times (22 low, 50.), his 200 back was better, going 1:58.60, better than what he did at EMU. But Ruch was so, so close, even eading at the 150.
Hope also had some decent swims in their depth positions. It’s really hard to gauge Kzoo at this because it looks like only 6 or so guys swam.

Membertrue everyone has rumors, and its also true that rumors tend to change from person to person, so the rumors that most of us heard here in holland could be different from the truth
but regardless…Kzoo didnt have much to show today, but i have no doubts that they still will bring some fire at leagues and for the rest of this regular season.

Ellis didn’t swim the 200 back at EMU, he swam the 100 free.
Kzoo will be a complete team once again at the Calvin dual.
I was at the meet, it really wasn’t exciting. Hope didn’t enter people in a lot of events, but Heyboer swam well.

MemberP, my bad on the 200 back time. I made a mistake reading the best times at the MIAA website. But I’m not sure what your comment on Hope not entering a lot of people means. Did you want them to make up for K not being there and enter more people in their slots?
As for the Olivet meet, Yury seemed to swim really well considering how tired a lot of his teammates looked on paper. Meisner had a nice 200 breast as well.
And in reference to the Kzoo rumors, I’ll just assume that they killed a baby unless I hear otherwise.

MemberThe truth of the matter is that the majority of the Kalamazoo swim team was seriously injured by Eastern Screech Owls (Otus asio). Apparently the team had adopted two pet owls and kept them in less-than favorable living conditions when the owls had had enough, and viciously attacked members of the Kalamazoo swim team. Eighteen members of the team suffered open wounds and were advised by doctors to remain out of the pool for the weekend. The only fatality was sophomore Kevin Groth, who refused to give up his oreo and reese’s milkshake (well-known to be an owl’s favorite snack), even while the owls vigorously plucked him into submission. We wish the survivors the very best on their road to recovery.

Umm, it means people swam off events (as stated by el radio) and they tried some new things. This is what is usually done by the MIAA teams at this meet, but it makes it less exciting as a person in the stands.

MemberWhat really happened is that the guys finally showed that they are cool. About time someone gets in trouble. Seriously, I was starting to think they were a punch of pusses.

MemberI’m not sure that I would call fatally hanging onto your milkshake while being pecked by Eastern Screech Owls cool. I’d put that more as stupid, since milkshakes cost like $3 and owls… well, they’re dangerous.
