MemberThe reason that Hope folks are so vehement that Kzoo has no shot at beating them this league meet is because they know their short-lived time in the sun is about to end. If you look back in history, you see 3 short periods of Hope dominance, each followed and preceded by a decade or so of Kalamazoo domiance. The leaves are falling…

Memberand unfortunately for Hope, this time when Kalamazoo is down, Hope can’t be the default winner with Olivet in the way.

MemberWow, listen to you two. I think K will contend for the title next year…and you know what I’m glad b/c quite frankly they haven’t contended at all in the last three years. I’m glad that the league is getting stronger and more teams are in the hunt. Olivet doesn’t lose much and will still have depth to compete. Hope losses a lot of people but if they bring in a couple studs they will also have a shot. K just needs some depth and they will be right in it as well.
Instead, of talking about how Hope is going to fizzle out and “their short-lived time in the sun is about to end.” Why don’t you act a little more happy about how the league is strengthening and becoming much faster with more contenders?

Wow Derek, that is quite a shot at some of the K-Zoo teams of the past. Maybe you could explain what qualified ’93 or ’95 as a time when Kalamazoo was “down”.

Oh Potsy, you know my comment was designed to get the Hope folks riled up and that’s it. Don’t read too much into it.

Memberstewie is right on. there is no shame in the MIAA becoming a talented league, frankly the more talented it becomes as a whole the more fun it becomes!

I certainly do Derek. My comment was designed to subtly point out that Hope teams have beaten some of the best that K-Zoo has fielded. Getting a jab in at the illustrious CEO of d3swimming.com was just a bonus.

Fair enough. And I like my new title!

Stevo,
Are you attempting to suggest that either:
A) Kalamazoo’s lack of success that year (yes, we were not happy to get third, it is true) is due to my senior class? (our class was the highest scoring class at 213 points, followed by the Olivet sophomores at 194, the Olivet freshmen at 191, and then the Hope seniors at 145.5.)
B) I did not contribute to the team? (I was the tied with Will Green for 7th highest individual scorer at 37 points, you were tied for 18th with M Waterstone, Fenwick, and Fodell with 30 points… if you include relays, you move up to being tied at 6th with Bacon with 60.5 points (relay points counted as 1/4 of the points awarded), and I was 13th with 50 points. You were tied for the most relay-only points with your teammate Blohm with 30.5 points, a very strong showing worthy of praise. I was significantly lower at 27th place with only 13 points. You also went to nationals, I did not.)
C) A personal attack on me is a warranted response to my blatantly silly assertion that Hope can only win when K is down?
D) All of the above.
