MemberWhat will the 400 Medlay relay look like for Gustavus as nationals?
At Conference it wasWaylander
Michelson
Ziegler
Hagemeyer
3:28.29Will they move swimers around. Hagemeyer was almost 2 seconds faster then Waylander in the open (Waylanders 53.34 lead off to Hagemyers 51.52 open), Stewart only did the 3 relays at conference and had a faster fly then Ziegler (Ziegler went 49.73 relay split to Stewarts 49.77 open- could possibly be as fast as 49.0 relay split). Amundson could anchor the relay. Amundson does not need to swim three individual events because I don’t think he will score in the 200 free. He could go all five relays.
If GAC swims their conference times, I could see them dropping anywhere from 2.50-3 seconds on the relay. That would potentially put them in the top 8.

the Todd
Membergood thinking for the relay, except for stewart. he was .7 faster than ziegler in the open fly, but he cant swim that many events in one day. he has the 200 FR, which he will be on splitting a 20.6 at conference, and he will be in the top heat of the 500. i dont think he would have enough left for a 49.0 relay split. he could definitely do it the way he has been swimming, but not after swimming two events.
the relay should beHagemeyer
Michelson
Ziegler

MemberYou mean Mikkelson?
I don’t think Stewart will swim the 200FR unless Carlson and assistant to the head coach Hagen think they can win it. Can he swim it in finals if he is not in prelims?
Maybe he’d have enough rest depending on what heat he’s placed in for prelims.
Stewart has a shot at top 3 in the 500 from what people seem to be saying. We’ve had the debate about the 200FR to 500 in other threads… which is why he probably didn’t swim on the relay at conference.
I think if he swims the 200FR, he’s giving up his shot at the 500.
With Stewart on the relay though, your chances of winning I think are greatly improved. Tough choice.

MemberStewart is a stud, I do not think swimming a leg of the 200 FR will effect him all that much, besides we are going to see David Curtis do exactly the same thing. He will have the break after the relay and hopefully the consolation final of the 500. That is plenty of time to recover from a 50.

Yes he can. Question becomes, who do they put on in prelims then? If they put someone other then Stewart, does that hurt their chances of making finals. Having the fastest time in the meet would be great, but if they do it from the Consols, that sucks.

I guess Stewart did swim the 200 FR at conference… and did a 4:29 in his 500 shortly after (with 2 womens heats, and one guys heat beforehand).
I wonder what the time difference between races would be for finals at nats considering there would be no lizzadies swimming boner heats of the 500… or getting awards for that matter.
Might be too big of a risk to take him off the relay in prelims. Who would take his place? Sky-Dave?

MemberWell there is s 15 minute break after the relay, and then the consol heat of the 500 free. I am guessing with all the announcing and things he is looking at 25 minutes probably. Assuming he makes the top heat of course.
