Hope will lose at least 1 of the Free Relays at MIAAs in 07.

Fiction Rece. What’s with these questions today surely you must have a factual statement over there. Hope will not lose a freestyle relay and I’ll tell you why. Depth and versatility. For the first time in a number of years, they may not have the leagues top freestyler. There isn’t a Blohm, Hamstra, DeHaan, Slagh, Lippert on the roster. For all we know, Espinosa at Kalamazoo might be the leagues top sprinter. But Hope has depth. Lots of depth. They will win because even if one of their top guys isn’t running on all cylinders it will be ok because someone else will be. Take your pick between VanderBroek, Vogelzang, Glas, Holton (all of which are returning All Americans), Gardner has also qualified for the big show in the mile and will help on the 800 Free Relay. Now add Osterbur’s coming out party last year, transfer sprinter Kurti, freshman newcomers Rose, Heyboer and Nelis. And Rece, this is on top of the freshman we don’t even know about yet. They win because they will have 4 guys swimming well at the same time on relays together and not necessarily because they are the most talented as they have been in years past.

Oooooh, I hate to agree with the ole’ playcaller for the Buckeyes, but this one is easy, it’s Fiction. I’ll even go one step further and say K could have the TWO best sprinters in the league, with Espinosa and Ellis, but they really only have 4 guys who even have the potential to be on it. It’s the same reason why Chris Leak will have his best season as a Gator that those upper classmen at Hope will throw out fast times: fear of being replaced by a Freshman. Tradition stands and you can chalk up another freestyle relay win for those Flyin’ Dutchmen.

Bingo Bango Bongo. Hope wins all the Men’s Free Relays. The best chance for the rest of the MIAA to win a free relay would be on the Women’s side, where Calvin will win all 3. Spank you very much.

The Calvin women sure are good and women’s swimming in the MIAA on the whole is getting very fast (especially with the recruits K is bringing in). K women do have a tradition of going abroad their junior year though, and unless a class stops this tradition, they can never compete with Calvin or Hope.

If one of the Hope men’s relays could go down, which would have the best shot of being knocked off (without DQ)?

I might say the 400 FR because of the 1-2-3 punch of Hennigar (very underrated at 47.3 flat start), Fonzi (who knows) and Ellis (who split 46.1 in high school where kids don’t as often have big drops in relays). Their 4th would be the straw that broke the camel’s back however, becuase Hope is sooo deep.

How insightful, but does this mean all the free relays, all the relays period, the MIAA meet, every individual and relay event at MIAAs? And why are you yelling, or did you just leave the caps lock on?

Well I mainly just meant the free relays. But take it for what you will.

I would love to see some of the depth posted on here by you swim gurus. For hope as far as filling in in the free relays, you forgot to mention phil 800 free, as well as Rose. Steve curti will have a great shot in the 200 free relay having already been 21.4 flat start. I dont know the times of most of our swimers so far, but that is a little bit to add to the mix. As far as the 400 any of the three i mentioned could have great 100 swims.
