MemberF-A-C-T. That’s a big fat Fact sweetheart. Let’s look at what he has done so far: 51 in the 100 back and 1:53 in the 200 back. And we’re still in November! Hopkins has a great record of bringing in NCAA ready talent and Thomas is no exception. Plus, who ya got who’s gonna beat him? Nobody, double winner, mark it down!

MemberRece last year we saw the best 100 backstroker in d3 history graduate. This year we have seen two of the best 100 backstrokers ever enter the d3 ranks. John Thomas sporting his 51.2 only to be outdone by Paul Ellis’ 50.7 in high school. While these two certainly have the speed to win the 100, it’s the 200 that spells the trouble. The old timer overhere is starting to sound like Dick Vitale because all he can talk about is freshman. There are two reasons why this is fiction and both of them will be swimming the 200 back. 1) Ullrich and 2) Ginder.

MemberYeah I pick Ginder and Ulrich over the 2 youngsters. This is probably Ulrich’s year. He made a run at it last year, only to be out touched, so I would think he could be 1:48 high and that should do it. Ulrich will not win the 100 though. My money has to be on Thomas. That guy has put up some great times so far

Member4 of last year’s finalists graduated, but 3 of the top 4 return! Ullrich, Kim, or Ginder should emerge on top in the 200.

MemberYeah GInder kinda came into his own in that event this past year, so he might also have 1:48 in him

MemberUh…Kim isn’t swimming anymore according to the JHU kids, so that leaves him out. I would go with Ginder or Ulrich on this one, but its a tough call as of right now.

MemberIt is s good thing they have Thomas then. That is a big loss for them. YOu don’t really ever replace a 1:49 backstroker. I think Ulrich probably deserves to win this race this year.

This has to be nominated for one of the dumbest things i have ever read on d3swimming.com. I am sorry, but no one deserves to win anything, they win it or they don’t. If he is going to win it, he should touch the wall first at the end of a 200 of doing backstroke, there is no other way to do it. Sorry for that outburst, i think i’m better now.

MemberEasy there. There have been plenty of people that have been deserving of nat championships but never got them. Just because I said he deserves to win it, does not mean it will happen. I realize that you have to put your hand on the wall first in order to win. If you think the things that people say on her are dumb then don’t respond. I am sure if I looked back I could probably find something stupid that you have said, but I don’t waste my time calling the stuff you say dumb. So get over it
sorry for MY outburst
