MemberFACT baby! I have been getting a little tired of hearing about how Kalamazoo is going to be a changed team and going to challenge with Hope and Olivet and now crush Calvin, but HOLD ON, those Knights won’t be going away just like that. They crushed Kalamazoo last year and didn’t lose a lot and added some valuable components they were missing last year. If you’re sleeping on the knights, (*Pulls out Sword*) they will cut you up!

MemberLee is right Rece. This IS a fact. While Calvin may not be in a position to necessarily challenge for the MIAA title, they will certainly play a spoiler role. And even though they may not win a free relay they will be in the hunt. Adding National Caliber freshman John Toll will help and they will have their hand in the mix for why the MIAA finishes in the order that they do. Calvin is not ready to challenge for a league title because they aren’t as balanced as some of the other teams but they carry a deadly combination of talent and relative depth.

MemberFiction! The most underrated team is without a doubt olivet. Last year’s champions are simply being counted out as a result of Hope and Kalamazoo getting national caliber recruits. Don’t count the Comets out yet. They are still returning more points than anyone, and although they may not score many points at nationals, they are the best conference team we have seen in a long time.

Now that is a laughable statement if I have ever seen one. After the ND loss today I needed a good joke like that. Natti, a comment like that shows your youth. Something tells me K’s team in 2002 may have been slightly better. In fact, I can’t imagine your precious Comets would have even finished 2nd that year.

MemberHope of the mid-1990s was better too.
In 1993 they beat a Kzoo team at MIAAs that went on to get 6th at NCAAs…without shaving. I will never forget being beaten by a bunch of tan, bearded hippies (at least that’s what they looked like).

While those teams are FOR SURE better, i would go so far as to say the Hope AND Kzoo teams just a couple years ago (2004) were better than the current Olivet team.
I think the reason people say Olivet is being underrated is that they don’t get talked about a lot here. I think a big reason for that is that we discuss the meet race by race, not the depth of the meet. Olivet does have a few races they will contend with, but they won last year (and will compete this year) based on depth, not the stars… and clearly the stars are more fun to discuss.
