Does anyone know what Eric Dunn’s time for the mile was before he got to Kenyon? Does he still have plenty of potential to drop time, or is he about tapped out? Unless that time in Minneapolis was a fluke (or someone like him is in the offing somewhere and no one is talking about him), he looks pretty safe again in the mile this year.

Without knowing his times (other than NCAAs), i will put mnoey on him to take down the record by his graduation. I want to see someone go sub-15. How’s the Houston pool? Coach Steen has said Rushton would have been 10 seconds fast in the Minnesota pool (he said this at D1 NCAAs). Also, Dunn swims at Phillips 66 Nationals today.

      He already swam yesterday:

       50 Dunn, Eric 18 Brandywine-DE YM 15:22.21Y 16:05.44 780
      r:+0.72 28.90 59.93 (31.03)

      3:38.37 (31.88) 4:10.21 (31.84)
      4:42.05 (31.84) 5:14.42 (32.37)

      6:51.37 (32.68) 7:23.49 (32.12)
      7:56.08 (32.59) 8:28.40 (32.32)

      11:11.61 (33.09) 11:43.99 (32.38)
      12:17.13 (33.14) 12:49.96 (32.83)
      13:22.71 (32.75) 13:55.37 (32.66)
      14:28.44 (33.07) 15:00.98 (32.54)
      15:33.81 (32.83) 16:05.44 (31.63)

That converts to 15:41.30 according to the Swimming World calculator.

Don’t believe that he broke 16:00 SCY or 17:00 LCM before coming to Kenyon. Also don’t think it raced it more than a couple of times in the previous two years. One would assume that he’ll improve.

Wow. That’s an impressive drop, but is it a fluke? I highly doubt it, but will need confirmation next year. Best of luck to him.

He was mid to high 4:30’s in high school. If he didn’t break 16:00 it probably is because he never swam it rested not because he wasn’t that good.

He had some great drops at Kenyon this past season but make no mistake, he was a talent before he stepped foot on campus. His drops, however, are still quite impressive.

Yeah he had a big year. His 400 IM and 1650 at nats were pretty quick.

11/26/04 he went 15:52.99 in the 1650 SCY at the Delaware State Meet
1/8/05 he went 9:29.14 in the 1000 SCY at a YMCA Winterfest meet
7/27/05 he went 8:56.71 in the 800 LCM at YMCA Nationals
7/29/05 he went 17:05.18 in the 1500 LCM at YMCA Nationals

(In 2004 at YMCA Nationals he went 8:28.21 in the 800, so I’m guessing he could’ve gone pretty fast in the 1500 had he swam it).

I used usaswimming.org’s Times Search tool to find these. It comes in really handy when one is trying to find an athlete’s best times.

I do think that he’ll continue to improve.

you just convert his time from summer nats treat?

i got something like that when i converted it

i say he goes 15:13, i want to believe in him being faster than rushton because i like seeing records fall.

Treat and Mav – I’m going to combine your predictions – his seed for nats will be 15:42, he’ll break Rushton’s record in Houston

my guess was a complete joke. its the mile, i cant predict anything that long. it’s such weird race, who knows how itll go. i like the short ones better.
