My Spoons Too Big
MemberWow! Kenyon got greedy and went with Ertel. 1:33.08 is fast, but what will that mean for their 800?

MemberIt probably means she wont swim it. They also should be able to win it without her, I would think.

MemberI guess Steen figured that since he isn’t going with seniors in any free relays, and since Carlton was very fast this morning, that he’d go for the 200 FR record, possibly sacrificing the 800 FR record, but knowing he can just go for it next year. I really didn’t think Kenyon could go that fast.

MemberKenyon takes the 500 free title now, too, with Arad. No new record but maybe next year

MemberSuper swim from Arad. That record should go down next year. While Kono didn’t break the record (as I mentioned she might), awesome swim from her to improve from 6th last year. Right with Arad until the last 100, when the latter turned on the afterburners. Reminds me of what White did to Scott last year.

Member2:03.13 from Orstein. That’s a new record, right? Ertel did turn it on at night, just out-touching Nordbrock with a great last fifty. That was a super-fast final.

MemberThat is a new NATIONAL record by .01….congratulations to Ornstein…she has gotten off to very good start. That 400 IM record should also be within her reach.
Nice drop by Sasser and good come back by Ertel to take third.

MemberPerhaps adding 10 secs to the back and take off 10 secs from the free would be about right However, they just took down the split results

MemberHmm… Now they’ve erased them from the site. It’s probably something like 9 seconds from either end. I remember seeing Stern the fastest free with about a 1:00.27, and Carlton at 1:00.5, which would come out to about 51.2 and 51.5. All I really want to know is Sasser’s split.

Upon reflection I believe that Steen is going to put Senior, Rebecca Allison on the 800 free relay instead of Ertel (and rightly so.. based on her performance on the first day in the 500 free) She was on last year’s DQ’d 800 free relay and I believe it will be sweet revenge for her to swim that relay for one last chance before she graduates.

MemberWenzlau, Arad, Coker, Allison… formidable foursome. They’re all in the same heat in the 200 tomorrow, so that should be a good indication of what they can do.

I was curious too and put a watch on her. I had 55.17 so give or take.

MemberI learned that Sasser’s split was 55.18 [would have been a national record but will not be because of electronic timing malfunction}. Let’s see if she can break 55 tomorrow.

That’s too bad about Sasser’s split but the chances appear pretty good that she’ll break it today…in fact given her personality shes likely to go faster today because of the malfunction last night.
NESCAC, you were right about them going under 3:50.
