MemberAnyone heard anything? I thought a breastroker was looking between Olaf and Gustavus, unsure on details though. I also heard Olaf picked up a really fast recruit, any truth to that rumor? I think Gustavus may have gotten a distance/im guy, but am not sure if they closed the deal? They end up with another sprinter to help win an NCAA title? Any other teams do anything surprising?

MemberI heard Gustavus got a couple of Breaststrokers, one in particular that is really good, but not positive so I am not going to throw out the name. Have not heard anything about any other schools. Only sure way to tell sometimes will be early next season when kids are actaully on Campus.

MemberI have heard that there is a distance guy going to GAC and maybe another consols breaststroker too. But I have also heard that StOlaf got at least one, maybe two phenom newbies. But I cant remember in what events, so it is a sketchy rumor at best. As ACT said, we’ll just have to wait ’til October to be sure.

There is a distance guy going to GAC, sub 4:40, plus he does a 1:56 or so IM and can swim other events, so he’s solid. I heard about the breastrokers as well, but not sure about anything else. The women apparently got a nice class in, but i don’t know any details.

MemberI actually coach one of the girls going to GAC. She is 1:57 200 free, 5:17 500. Will probably swim the mile. I know she talked to another girl at the MN USS state championships who is going there that is pretty good. Not sure what she swims.

MemberI did a little snooping around and found the times for the distance guy going to GAC, like SilentP said, he is a sub 4:40 in the 500, but is actually a 2:00 in the 200IM. He is a better 400IMer, where his time is comparable with with Pokorski and Pearson (the other GAC 400IMers) around a 4:13ish.

It’s true, he was 2:01 (or around there) in season so that is why i thought he’d be faster tapered. My error. His 500 is 4:39… not too shabby. I would also assume he could be included on that 800 FR.

That should make him only the 2nd member of the men’s team NOT from Minnesota.

MemberWell, we have actually only been talking about one guy from Illinois (and you guessed correctly) though I did also hear that there is a second guy coming from the same team in Illinois. On this second kid, I have absolutely no information on him (nor even a name to look him up). But I think that it will be close to a record year for the Gusties for non-MN swimmers, haha.

MemberWow, that sure is a lot of freshman! I wonder how they already know who all is going to be on the team? I seem to remember that we (at least on my team) would always end up having a few people who planned on swimming not swim, and some people who weren’t going to swim come out for the team. I wonder how this will change, if at all, when the season actually starts.
Anyone out there have any times for these boys? How good is this class? Good enough to take down Gustavus? -

Brian Behrends – no info found (wasn’t at the Alabama state meet last year either)
Nathan Bentley – 1:46 2Free, 9:47 1000, 2:03 IM, 16:40 mile, 4:17 4IM
Alex Brumley – 57 100 back
Brock Edwards – 50 100free relay split, 24.5 50 free
Max Erickson – no info
Peter Heidorn – 21.8 50, 1:07 100 breast
Mike Jessop – no info
Kyle Johnsrud – 51.49 relay split 100free
Josh Kolb – 23 50, 50. 100
Ben Meyer – the only ones i found were 11 and 13 respectively
Landon Seebart – 1:49 200 free, 5:06 500
CJ Wagner – 22.5 50, 48.8 100, 1:48 200, 4:59 500, 56 back, 2:03 200 back

MemberWow, GAC has 5 guys not from MN on their roster. That has to be some sort of record for them. They usually have one guy, if any at all, from somewhere besides MN.
