      i believe mccollum is only serving as the interim head coach until a national search is conducted. bates may well decide that he is the best candidate and hire him. who knows. he seems to be doing a good job so far.

      apparently, coaches at bates are considered faculty so they are required to do a national search.

      word on the street is that there are many d3 coaches and d1 assistants who are applying for the position. it is interesting that the position is only posted online.

      it wouldn’t hurt in applying, just know that there are other applicants and that they are happy with mike’s work.
