MemberI was looking at meet results at the Relay Meet and saw that the Alma leadoff swimmer for the medley relay went a 26.85. His name is Steven Rose. Since i was impressed by this swim, i went to check him out at the Alma website… and it turns out he is a diver… is there any truth to that or is this a case of the results being incorrect?

MemberP,
I would suspect the results are incorrect and that would actually be Spencer Johnson, freshman backstroker from Grand Ledge. I believe he was a 55 mid in high school.

MemberWell I obviously didn’t look at the results before posting that. Thanks TexasSWim. I have no idea. I am assuming Gostomski swam a fly leg?

Memberyeah he did, now alma only has 9 guys including the diver (which also includes a brent and brandon gostomski), so I would have to assume that he was in it, however there is no freestyler listed for the b medley, however there is a 22.9 split.

something shady is going down… they also had 6 guys on a 3 person relay, so it’s hard to trust anything

MemberThere was talk of a few 3-man relays where swimmers swam twice. Iduno if it happened or not, but none of you really care enough to dig much deeper. It’s alma.
That said, I am certainly excited to see what Kyle brings to Alma this season. It’d be great to make the league as deep as we can, and I’m sure he will help bring the program around.

MemberBack in my age group days we actually did that. We only had seven guys at the meet. It was a long course 15-17 200 medley relay at the Metro Beach pool on the East side of Michigan. Our relays were seeded in the same heat. The backstroker on the A got out turned around and anchored the B. We even took first and third in the heat and the event, no-one the wiser.

MemberAt states my senior year we used our diver on the end of our medley because he could split a 26 or 27… which was faster than the rest of the swimmers.

No, that was when we swam the state of North Dakota. It was pretty sad, but i do have dual meet footage of me kicking Matt Lowe’s ass that I will keep so that if he makes the Olympics, i can impress chicks ๐
