I am most curious to see how the Kzoo sprinters do because they have been having a fairly slow start.
I’m not sure I necessarily agree with this. If you’re comparing the times of Simic and Schearer to the times of Fleming and Bazz then yes, they are off to a slow start. But if you are comparing the performances I have to disagree. Those guys are swimming just fine if you ask me and likely in a position to be pretty quick when it matters.
Schearer has already been 22.2 in the open and split 21.7. His PR in the 50 is 21.7. A half second spread there would mean an inseason equivalent of around 20.9 from Bazz or Fleming last year.
Simic has been 22.5 in the open and 21.9 on a relay, but perhaps more impressive is the 100 where he has been 49 on a couple occasions. His PR before arriving at K was around 48.5. To be within a second of that at this point of the year has to be encouraging for Kathy. She might have two more sprinters to build around and be excited about. Add Manning to that this year and Armstrong to that next year and it’s scary.
