Taper Weekend(s): Top Swims

So maybe what you want to say (about swimming) doesn't quite fit into one of our other categories. This is the place for you.

Taper Weekend(s): Top Swims

Post by wickedfoolish » Thu Dec 01, 2011 6:38 pm

Probably the first taper swim to complete, but I'm already casting this as the top swim:

Many people think Spain is here...
On the other hand, there is a school of thought that claim Spain is here...those people too are wrong.
Where is Spain? It could be...here? here? here?

Jeebus, that is an adult swim if I've ever seen one. I call 14:55 in March. That would be absolutely disgusting.
The swim is actually doubly impressive because it doesn't really look like the other D guys from Denison swam that great...

Unless one of the Denison guys breaks a national record too, this wins hands down. When was the last time (if ever) someone broke a national record at a mid-season taper meet?

20 seconds under the D1 B-cut.

Also their 8FR was 6:40 - they were 6:48 at this meet last year. Oh and all 4 swimmers are sophomores.

The previous mile record by Rushton was set at this meet. 15:05: that is a big boy swim.

a couple of things 1. Does anyone have splits from Denison's men's 8fr and Weik's mile splits as well? 2. ANyone have the results from the prelims of the men's 200 free? 3. I don't know anything about Jackson Humphrey but he just broke 150 in the 2fly. 4. Augustyn's 147 flat is just nasty.

2free zults are up. Denison men are fast and deep as hell in that event! Gotta say that I'm really impressed with both big D and Emory so far. Both teams came to play this morning.
Best morning swim for me is Miller Douglas 149 2fly. He's been in and out all fall with an illness, so this is a heck of a way to come back!

11 guys under 1:44 is unreal. ANd just in case you thought maybe they didn't have a top dog in the breaststokes. Just had 2 freshmen go 57 flat and 56.5.

Woof. That must make for some fun training days in practice (both freestylers and backstrokers). Where did Denison's two breastrokers come from? When's the last time D had a breastroker?

THey had Lewing cover it the last couple of years, and in looking at the results they had 6 guys go under 51 in the back

Actually, it is 6 guys under 51, which is pretty ridiculous:

6 DeSantis, Michael A SR Denison-OH 52.85 50.85
7 Chabot, Sean B SO Denison-OH 52.37 50.92
