Natalie Lugg (Denison) trained with me this summer. 1:13.3 100 Breast, 2 seconds faster than last summer. Hoping she can get to a LC meet after Nats to get her trial cut.

Best swims were

Vernoia (by far) I am excited to see his 200. He is better at the 2 (than the 4) so perhaps a 1:51 is in the works. He could make the big heat, though keep in mind a few of the top swimmers in this event are not at the meet and they are scoring to 10.

Pysnik: if you look at the swimmers who finished around him who also entered in yards you see he did quite well. 4 guys less than .6 ahead of him were entered at: 3:56.39, 3:55.01, 3:57.14 and 3:52.71, the 3 guys right behind him were entered at 3:56, 3:56 and 3:54.

Kendra Stern had a great 200 free prelim this morning, going 2:01.40 to finish 24th. She'll get to swim tonight.

I've been following the meet closely and am amazed at the number of DQs. What's up with that? No benefit of the doubt on the national stage?

The refs are going crazy with dq's. Caroline Wilson swam 200 IM in time trials and was dq'd. She would have been a second under OT cut.

Most meets have 2 or 3 officials and those with 2 never really see the center lanes. I'd imagine these are things they have just gotten used to do doing illegally and now that they have officials looking at them closely, they are being called for it.
Frank: Look, I didn't go to Vietnam just to have pansies like you take my freedom away from me.
Dee: You went to Vietnam in 1993 to open up a sweatshop!
Frank: ...and a lot of good men died in that sweatshop!

If anyone can find the underwater video of the men's 100 Breast at SC Nationals earlier this year, you may have a better understanding of the DQs.

Quinn Bartlett placed 15th with a 2:01.77 in the 200 back - translates to a 1:43 short course. That is a hell of a swim.
