2008 NCAA D3Swimming.com Recruit Class Rankings
Thank you for everyone who has submitted information for this ranking. This is based on the scoring system established in the Recruits forum based on invite times from the previous year. This is not complete and I am still missing several teams, but lays out the foundation and hopefully encourages others to post their class or send them to me. I am not releasing the names at this time (mostly because I don't remember who gave me names or posted names or didn't want them posted, so its only fair).

Re: 2009 NCAA D3Swimming.com Recruit Class Rankings
How exactly are we ranking them? If you multiplied it out, Hope has 25 points and is actually the second best class.
Note that I do think having 2 5 stars like Kenyon is better than any combination of 4, 3, 2, or 1 stars.

It's an extremely long and drawn out formula... basically I try to take them objectively.Captain Insano wrote:How exactly are we ranking them? If you multiplied it out, Hope has 25 points and is actually the second best class.

Sprinters, despite their low stars for the most part, are given some "mind weight" and top level recruits help a lot because they are the guys getting teams to nationals. After that, depth plays a big part (so lots of 3 stars or something) because of D3 attrition rates.

Reading this
put me in mind of thissilentp wrote:It's an extremely long and drawn out formula... basically I try to take them objectively.

Seriously though, I commend you for the thought and effort you put into this, p. I'm looking forward to seeing the final listings and then compare at the end of the season to see who lived up to potential and who were paper tigers.Iceman wrote:i would come up with a coefficiant to compare whether or not they wore fastskins and also have a variable for which pool they swam at. then i would go shoot myself

Re: 2009 NCAA D3Swimming.com Recruit Class Rankings
Stevens Tech put together a class worth looking at. 18 guys, here's what I found:
Bagdon: 4:46fr
DiMiceli: 22.6
Iveson: 49/149fr
Laplant: 4:51fr/159bk
Nagle: 21.9/48.1fr
Rawson: 55/201fl
Silva: 23.0/50.4 fr
Smith: 145/451/1006fr 415im
Vealey 22.2/48.6
Wan 22.3/48.9
Watkins 21.6/46.7 (not sure what to make of him, went those times in 06, since then results are sparse and much slower. injury?)
Wismer 5:08fr
Not sure if this ranks nationally, but it sure helps conference level for depth. 18 freshmen, 6 returnees, pretty wide open team dynamic. They also brought in 14 girls to an extremely selective school. Must be some intensive recruiting effort there.

Re: 2009 NCAA D3Swimming.com Recruit Class Rankings
clearly this family is full of smart kids who also swim. at harvard they have pool space so if you are willing to put in the work and not get in the way, you can swim---i would be surprised if this guy was even listed as a recruit for them.
Re: 2009 NCAA D3Swimming.com Recruit Class Rankings
Most Ivy League schools accept walk-ons who can make it into the school on their own academically. They do in fact have a lot of pool space and I'm sure this is what happened.
