Nats, Who Ya Got?
Kenyon looks to be the favorite, but I'm taking Denison. Also I've got Flemming having a huge meet.
Dude, I said 20 point and they didn't even flinch. Phelps changed everything.

Denison - diving will be too much for Kenyon to make up

Re: Nats, Who Ya Got?
This isn't very precise since it doesn't account for swimmers with more than 3 top 16 times but here's what I have for number of top 16 times by teams (excluding the 1000):
Kenyon: 32
Emory: 19
Denison: 19
Williams: 16
MIT: 10
JHU: 9
NYU: 9
Does anyone have guesses for numbers of swimmers per team?

And on the women's side...
Emory: 38
Denison: 28
Williams: 24
Kenyon: 21
Johns Hopkins: 10
(Again, not counting for the swimmers with more than 3 top 16s.)

Re: Nats, Who Ya Got?
The uncut entries list is posted on USA swimming. Teams need to cut down to 18 swimmers (if that is a problem) today I think. Then there will be a bit more shuffling to deal the diver entries (Denison may be the only team having to deal with this and their 18 entry limit).

Re: Nats, Who Ya Got?
Does Denison have to cut down to 18 or 17?
I would assume 17 swimmers to account for a diver(s) being selected this weekend. If that is the case, what happens if Denison cuts down to 17 swimmers and none of their divers make the meet...

Re: Nats, Who Ya Got?
I think they have to cut to 18 now and then after divers qualify, they have to cut again appropriately to accommodate their qualifying divers.swimming2008 wrote:Does Denison have to cut down to 18 or 17?

Any idea where the line will be drawn for invites? When will the official invite list come out? Seems like the pysch sheet came out pretty quickly.

Re: Nats, Who Ya Got?
How is the entry list generated? I've noticed a few top 16 omissions. Will it be updated before selections are made?
Re: Nats, Who Ya Got?
Elm, they might not be swimming those events. No entries can be added at this point. And it doesn't look like Denison will have to worry about the team cap, I count 15 swimmers making it for them, so they'd need 10 divers to qualify in order for it to be an issue.
Re: Nats, Who Ya Got?
Entries were due at 8pm last night. I think that swimmers that are not on the list are not entered in the meet for any number of reasons.Elm wrote:How is the entry list generated? I've noticed a few top 16 omissions. Will it be updated before selections are made?

Re: Nats, Who Ya Got?
Thanks - I didn't count up the Denison swimmers, I just assumed that because they have so many good divers, they might have had a cap problem.Towel42 wrote:Elm, they might not be swimming those events. Re: Nats, Who Ya Got?
Another good question is this:
Why are there swimmers listed that don't have even a B cut time in the event or even a relay that is top 16? Why would a coach submit that?

Re: Nats, Who Ya Got?
If a swimmer gets selected individually in one event they can swim two other individual events, even without a cut. That is why you see some of those entries.
For relays with top 16 you never know what is going to happen. Sometimes drug tests can take a relay team out of the meet, team suspension, etc. If you make the relay B cut it would be foolish NOT to enter into the meet.
