Re: CC Swimming '14

Is there a reason Dickinson isn't going to send anyone to NCAAs? I thought they'd made a few B cut times that might have been up for selection...

Re: Curious

Intriguing... I didn't realize that in the NESCAC meet there were athletes who didn't suit up for the champs! We always had athletes suited, whether rested and shaved or not. Cool to know!

Curious

Can anyone knowledgeable shed some light on how/why it seems to be customary for Williams athletes to swim well at NESCACs, but to be significantly and brilliantly faster at NCAAs? I'm thinking of Sarah Thompson's 200 and mile, right now. Or Todhunter in the 200 fly. Yeah, 2:01 is quick, but it's st...

Re: NCAC 2014

BigRed Parent - can you illuminate anything more about the diving qualifications? I really don't quite understand exactly how it works. I know there are qualification scores to get to the Regional meet, but I wasn't clear if there's a score AT the Regional meet that qualifies an athlete for the NCAA...

Re: NCAC 2014

I'm not debating the truth of the matter. I'm wondering what the future holds. Since the Kenyon streak at NCAAs ended, Kenyonites have been groaning about divers. It's a depth issue, and one which Parini - as a master strategist - has cleverly taken advantage of. Also...Kenyon had two male divers in...

Re: NCAC 2014

...and Denison wins again. Because of divers. Again. Wonder if they'll try to bring all six to NCAAs so they can get points where Kenyon can't block them. Clearly a case of...if you can't out-swim them, try to out maneuver them. Parini should have been a general. On a more fun-facts type note - a re...

Re: NCAC 2014

Just going out on a limb here, but there are two possibilities - either Conover wasn't expected to do as well as he has done and "stepped it up" in typical Kenyon fashion.... OR there was someone for the 18 roster who was projected to score more points in respective events.

Re: NCAC 2014

SO....that was interesting. Freaking fast 500 out of Newlon. New Kenyon record from Williamson...unrested. That'll be disgustingly fast come NCAAs. Obviously Purple biased, but loved that 1-2-3 in the men's 500. Seaver was so calm. And it's fun watching Guilfoyle make his move at the end there, too....

Re: NCAC 2014

I asked a coaching friend of mine - she said the scoring will remain the same, with the few additional entries not picking up points from the C final. It'll get pretty cut throat not to be the last one to the wall under those circumstances!

Re: NCAC 2014

As far as I remember from last year, Lewis won the 1 meter diving at NCAAs. Dignan may have scored; I can't recall off the top of my head. I don't think the women have any divers that went to/scored at NCAAs last year. That 1-6 placing by the DU divers is crazy, though.... Not too much else that cau...

Re: Ledecky's 4:28 500

Is there a way she could do the relay all by herself? It would be faster, after all. lol

Imagine THAT on a meet program!

Announcer: "And the National Age Group Record in this event is from the team of Katie Ledecky-Katie Ledecy -Katie Ledecky - Katie Ledecky."

Audience: .....wat?

Re: Ledecky's 4:28 500

She makes everyone else look like they're standing still. It's ridiculous. And so freaking awesome. Kinda crazy that her 200 was "only" two seconds faster than her take out 1:44 in the first 200 of the 500. To the foot.

Ledecky's 4:28 500

What. The. ************!!!! That's freaking FAST. As someone in the comments on swimswam pointed out...she beat the MALE Pac12 champion in the event (although he was swimming a dual meet/unsuited/not shaved and she was (presumably) shaved/tapered/suited). That's disgustingly fast. Two seconds under ...

NCAC 2014

Stoked? I know I am.

Anyone have any info they feel like sharing, or thoughts about the athletes for this coming meet?
