Re: Scoring
I dunno. As a swimmer I'd be more mad that the other team was exhibitioning than if they weren't. I feel like some of the arguments against running up the score that are often used in other sports (getting other players PT, resting the starters, preventing injury) are not applicable to swimming once...

Re: Rankings
on a side note: who voted for Chapman for the men's Coastal rankings? They're a club team, and also not very good.
Re: Rankings
Redlands' ranking depends on whether the rankings are dual meet or national championship. They will beat probably ten teams at nationals that they couldn't beat at a dual meet, just because their depth isn't quite there, though they're definitely improving.

Re: 2011 top recruits
At a national level he is top 3 right now in the 200 IM, top 8 (returning) in the 400 IM, 100 fly, and 200 fly, and top 16 in the 100 back (and with a 50.0 I bet he could make it back in the 2 back as well). So probably 200 IM on the first day, 400 IM or 100 fly on the second, and 200 fly on the thi...

Re: Swimming this Summer
Quinn Bartlett placed 15th with a 2:01.77 in the 200 back - translates to a 1:43 short course. That is a hell of a swim.

Sam Geiger is going to be a senior at Case Western, not a freshman.
edit: Good work, though.

49 today in prelims - ouch. Same thing happened with Neil Walker in 07. Not having a selection meet in 2011 is killer.

Re: Occidental Hire?
Word I heard is that the old coach Kuhn was dissatisfied with the job security provided by his contract at Occidental. I'm guessing he left voluntarily. Kind of unfortunate for Oxy as their women swam great this year at conference, and their men's team also swam fairly well for its size. Then again,...

Re: Middlebury Coach Resigns
Yes, that's merely a coincidence - Gowdy has taken the head coaching position at Pomona-Pitzer. Along with Occidental coach Alex Kuhn's resignation, that's quite a bit of shake-up in the SCIAC.

Re: Middlebury Coach Resigns
From the NESCAC forum, but fairly significant to D3 overall, with Middlebury a perennial top program To be sure, it's a good program but "perennial top" is way overstating it. They've been good, with a stud or 2, but I believe have the potential to be a lot better with the right fit of a coach. I'd...
