Re: X Team Records

Kalamazoo used to have a really nice website that Brian Miller used to maintain. k-swimming.net if I recall correctly that had some nice historical info on it. Anyway, I'm trying to remember but I want to say back around 2000 they had a guy named Ryan Crowley that swam exhibition one year and went ...

This is a brilliant idea! How easy do the better swimmers go on #1? Who is best suited for this format? A 200 swimmer? A 500 swimmer?

Re: X Team Records

hey my password hasn't changed. Yeah, Jake, it wasnt Crowley. The kid was from Spring Lake. Kzoo even time-trialed a (400?) relay with him on it to try and get him to Nats. I think it was 2001? to the question, I can think of two guys who were exhibitioned who ended up scoring at Nats: Derek (ick?) ...

Re: Post session discussion

to me, this has nothing to do with taper and everything to do with energy on deck. You can see it in the body language and the mentality. I have said this before. This class of Calvin swimmers has never lost. They have been on top for their entire time at Calvin. harder to be the hunted than the hu...

Re: Kalamazoo NCAA Infractions

This is an absolute disaster and will cost the school untold millions of dollars for years if they lost their appeal. No conference tournament ( this means, I assume, that the hornets won't swim at MIAAs), and of course no NCAAs. This is a ridiculous over reach by the NCAA. No one on the Miaa should...

nationals outlook

WHo is in for the men and women? I no longer have any idea what is fast. I would assume that the Albion and Calvin 400 Medley relays are in. Is a 15:42 safe? 1:51 in the IM is so fast, but probably doesn't get you in anymore, does it?

Re: Of all time...

Despite coming in at very different times out of high school, I think the Slagh/Schneider battles from the early 2000s were fantastic. Sophomore to senior year for those two was always a showdown... It didn't matter if it was a dual meet, the quad meet, MIAAs or NCs. Man, they were fun to watch. Af...

Re: Andrew Wilson Wins USA Nats 100 breaststroke

WOO Screeeeeeeech is back! Huzzah! I have to say it: Andrew Wilson's swim totally eclipses anything that Bourne, MCB, Read Boon, D. Mulvihill, or any other D3 legend ever accomplished. Wilson is now an Olympic contender. He's the D3 G.O.A.T. And frankly, he has the chance to be an all-timer if he k...

I always thought James Born would be the best D3 swimmer...

I just kind of figured Born would always be the best D3 swimmer of all time. For perspective, when he went a 19.9 and 43.? in 1985 were both top 8 swims. Born was on a national team, and in fact briefly held the World record as a member of a 200 SCM freestyle relay team. It just didn't seem possible...

DQ in the 100 free?

How did that happen?

Claassen went a 46.77, the last time kzoo had a freshman go a 46 things ended well.

Re: '14-15 Rosters

I agree with Quacker on this academic / athlete question. Using Kurt as an example: I think you can make the individual decision - nad make that same decision a handful of times - to place academics ahead of sports. By individual decision I mean: do not attend a meet / practice to attend to somethin...

Re: recruiting from a coaches perspective

Any tips or ideas of what the recruiting process looks like on the coaches' end? I am looking to get into college coaching, and it would be nice to have half a clue what I'm talking about when I go to interview. "I am a process oriented individual. And the more important an item is to the success o...

More of a legitimate question and not trying to be a downer, but haven't K alum on here joked about how this has been "the next project" for a long time now? This is a legit question. Yeah, this time it is real. The college views it as an investment for the entire campus, not the swim team. Which e...

Yeah, looks nice. Seems like a slap in the face to say the new pool will make K more competitive with other teams that have nice pools and not mention calvin... :D More of a legitimate question and not trying to be a downer, but haven't K alum on here joked about how this has been "the next project...
