D3Swimming.com has named Denison’s Carolyn Kane its Athlete of the Week in women’s swimming and diving for meets through October 17th.
Kane, a junior from Deephaven, Minnesota, was a member of five winning relays, leading Denison to a first place finish at the Kenyon Relays on Saturday. Kane’s most impressive swims of the weekend had to be her :24.07 lead-off in the 200 Free Relay, her :52.02 split in the 100 leg of the Crescendo Relay and :26.91 lead-off in the 200 Mixed Gender Medley Relay.
Last season, Kane was runner-up in both the 50 Free and100 Free and placed sixth in the 100 Fly at the 2015 NCAA Championships.
Kane is being honored as Athlete of the Week for the first time in her career.
On the men’s side of things, Stevens’ Ravi Sun has been named D3Swimming.com’s Athlete of the Week for meets through October 17th.
The sophomore from Arkadelphia, Arkansas placed first in all three of his individual events and also led off Stevens’ first place 200 Medley Relay. Sun’s :51.08, 1:53.73, and 1:57.73 in the 100 Back, 200 Back, and 200 IM respectively, earn him the number 2 ranking in the nation in each.
Sun is starting the season off strong after placing 7th in the 200 Back at last year’s NCAA Championships.
Sun is being honored as Athlete of the Week for the first time in his career.
