Women's Second Day

We bring a different perspective to the pool and discuss swimming in our own way. This forum is dedicated to providing women with the space to talk about swimming the way we want to talk about swimming.

My Spoon's Too Big! wrote:Amherst 3:55.80 in 400 MR prelims with both Sterns. Ouch for the defending champs.

The four day meet puts the 200 Fr instead of the 50 Fr right before the 400 MR. 52-mid out of M Stern is not what they needed.

i think the real problem was rebecca kelly's 1:07 split--she was a 1:03 out of high school---had some injuries this year, but that really hurt them...

As far as the 8fr goes, I give the edge to Emory. It's the only event Horvat has all day, so she should be rested enough (as rested as you can be after 500 500 4IM 4IM)...

I'm pretty sure Horvat doesn't get tired. I'd expect her to be under 1:50 on the 8fr for sure. She may even be faster than Westby.

As for Amherst and the 800 Free Relay, I'm not sure Thompson made it to Minneapolis. MacLaverty could be filling in for her. I don't think Amherst can win the 800 this year.

The Emory women are en fuego. They just set a new national record in winning the 200 Free Relay. The fight for second place between Emory and Denison will be close.

Horvat pretty much sealed the deal as swimmer of the meet with her 4:16 win n the 400 IM.

Anyone else have predictions for Horvat's split in the 800 free relay?

Wow, Liz Horvat is a frrrreak. I'm guessing 148.5 relay split tomorrow.

I'm pretty sure Kndra Stern was shooting for 1:46. Maybe she will lead off the 800 free relay and get it tomorrow night.
