Selection Row for Invites

I added the time trials and the last chance meets from this weekend. I did the whole process of adding all 146 individual women to the meet and then adding the 64 relay only swimmers. Then I figured out Kenyon roster.

This is what I came up for Kenyon women roster. The last couple of roster spots I just projected who would score more points in multiple events and not just one event.
Carton
Hurd
Ertel
Oliveira
Vereshchagin
Arad
Meirs
Barer
Menzel
Seltzer
Lederer
Brady
Caldwell
Maika
Quinn
Hahn Lawson
Chevalier
Kett

Since it is a 4 day meet, I also projected what events people would swim. Everyone in row 19 will make the meet and two people in row 20 will make the meet. 500 free (.9716) and 1650 (.9698) are the closest to the meet record.

50 free 23.77 (take out McDowell, Stern)
100 free 51.98 (take out Hoff, McDowell)
200 free 1:53.07 (take out Vereschchagin, Meirs)
500 free 5:00.86 (take out Wenzlau)
1650 free 17:25.82 (take out Evans, Nicholson)
100 back 57.63 (take out Leech)
200 back 2:05.08 (take out Ertel)
100 breast 1:05.15
200 breast 2:22.64 (take out Lewandowski)
100 fly 57.30 (take out Moore and Stern)
200 fly 2:06.65
200 IM 2:07.63
400 IM 4:32.27 (take out Evans, Amador)

Then as far as relays, every relay in line 11 will make the meet. Through line 10, there are 6 spots left to be given to relay only swimmers.
2 MR - Springfield (Reilly, Kosciusko)
4 MR - Centre (Gates, Maggard)
2 FR - Springfield (Van Waalwijk)
4 FR - Geneseo = 0
8 FR - Wash U(Schulte)

Looks like Wash U relay will make it after all.

That would be great, because I had Kono not making it in the mile and therefore the Wash U relay needing one more spot.

I think this Kenyon overqualifying issue adds a little bit of uncertainty to the meet. If only we could know who they're bringing. I don't envy Jim Steen's position when it comes to this.

So it seems like the predictions by Swmr46 and Spoon are different by about one row for individuals... wonder if it's due to the difference in predicting the Kenyon roster/multiple event swimmers.

And wow, the Wash U women are really coming down to the wire this year in terms of qualifying. Did they rest for conference?

neswim : Can you share any insights on the Kenyon women's national roster? Coach Steen certainly has an abundance of riches this year.

He really does on both sides. Like last year he has 19 men in, but I don't think I've ever seen 23 women make it. Here's who's definitely going:
Carlton
Hurd
Quinn
Ertel
Oliviera
Meirs
Arad
Barer
Menzel
Vereshchaganin
Seltzer
Lederer
Brady
Caldwell
All of these have A cuts or are indispensible to the team (from what I can tell). From the remaining 9, here's what they can swim. You decide who goes:
Hahn-Lawson: 200 Free, 500 Free, 1650 Free
Wenzlau: 200 Free, 500 Free
Chevalier: 200 Free, 500 Free, 1650 Free, 400 IM
Leech: 200 Free, 100 Back, 200 Back
Lewandoski: 100 Breast, 200 Breast, 200 IM
Lindsay: 100 Fly, 200 Fly
Moore: 100 Fly
Kett: 200 IM, 400 IM
Amador: 200 Fly, 400 IM

There are a few things to consider, such as women among these who have gone to nationals before (like Amador) and how Steen views that; when they qualified and how Steen views that (the NY Times article mentions Machala not going last year on the men's side since he qualified at a last-chance meet; I don't remember which of the girls above that applies to); and whether or not Steen wants representation in the final heat of every event (which would assure Leech's participation since Ertel won't swim the 100 back).

I've gone with:
Hahn-Lawson
Chevalier
Leech
Lewandoski

I could easily see Wenzlau in there over Lewandoski as she was there last year and swam very well.

The unofficial psyche sheet can't come too soon...

Which event was Zaleski taken out of? She qualified for 4 events, right (50 Fr, 100 Fr, 100 Bk, 100 Fl)?

The 100 Free most likely, since she led off the relay with time.

Yes, but I feel for the swimmers who are on the "bubble" right now. Besides the obvious choice of the A cut swimmers plus Quinn who is really close to A cuts in two events and vital to relays, I can only speculate on the rest of the selections. We'll just have to wait until after the unofficial psyche sheet is out tomorrow. I believe the national team members will be finalized shortly thereafter.

NESCAC....it looks to me as if Williams will finish third, just behind Denison. Do you agree?

Unofficial psyche sheet is up http://www.ncaa.org/wps/ncaa?ContentID=933.

Kenyon has entered 22 (no Amador as far as I can see). It looks like we can't figure out who's going before the NCAA does, at least not precisely. Steen has until tomorrow evening to declare his final 18.

Since Kenyon is already on spring break (started this week), lets hope Steen decided this last week so that those people wouldn't stick around Gambier for a week they wouldn't need to...

Wenzlau was abroad first semester and it would not surprise me if he didnt bring her to NCAA's because of that. You also have to think about the seniors (Lindsay and Moore) who have never been to a national meet and they finally qualified this year.

In 2001 there were 21 girls qualified and he left 3 qualifiers at home... I think that was probably the most before this year.

When is the official psyche sheet out? Tomorrow?
