Emory will be right in the mix for second/third. They are relatively weak in the breaststrokes, but so is Williams. Westby and Horvat are absolute beasts, and I think Pasternak will have a great meet.

I'm pretty surprised that people are so quick to count out Emory. They have been looking pretty good. Also, the fact that they didn't rest for UAA's should be taken into account. I think they are going to do really well and will probably turn a few heads in the process.

Emory has all their point scorers back from Nats last year, and with a nice group of freshmen added to the mix, may have to leave some qualifiers home. Recall, they have deeked a relay the last two years.

Before the NCAA expanded the list, it looked to me that Emory had 8 A cuts, 2 Q times and three relay only swimmers (plus one diver). Why would they leave anyone home? Denison has the same number on their squad, but much faster relays and Williams has a smaller team but should get more points per swimmer than either Denison or Emory. Granted will not have time to look at psych sheet until tomorrow but don't forsee a situation where Emory will have more than the maximum allowed.

3 of Emory's A cuts came from freshman (with a 4th FY just tenths off in the 500). If they stand up to pressure of Nats, when added to all the returning scorers, could move them higher when Howell's girls are finally rested and Lazr'd up.

The 200 IM tonight will probably decide which FY swimmer has the highest point total this year. Todhunter is seeded third, Vereshchagin is seeded fourth. Todhunter is already much faster than I expected.

Todhunter and Vereshchagin finished 3/4---just like they were seeded. Todhunter takes the lead in the FY point race.

If Todhunter wins the 200 Fly tonight, she takes the crown. I think she is clearly runner-up to Horvat for swimmer of the meet.

Todhunter takes the FY swimmer high point total with 2 firsts and a third. Vereshchagiin was runner-up with a fourth, second and first. Pretty close. Two great swimmers.
