What do you predict for nationals? Who is going to shine, who is not?

I've done the algorithm for the women. I had to make some assumptions about swimmers with multiple events. I also believe Emory is within its 20 squad limit given the cut line so I didn't drop any Emory swimmer. Surprisingly, I only got to line 14 for one swimmer. Otherwise, the cut line was at 13. That's never happened before for the women. Maybe someone else can correct me. For swimmers who are NOT in relays, I marked their placement in their best individual event (after I eliminated extra swimmers who had more than 3 swims). This list is 248 swimmers. Women's cut is 242. So six swimmers have to go. That takes care of all line 15 swimmers and all but one line 14 swimmer. I'd like to be wrong about the cut line!!

It's time to have 16 relays and 16 individuals selected in each event, Just let schools pay for the expenses...so we can have the best swimmers represented at the meet.

I thought the max squad size was 18 and not 20. Is that a change this year? Is the 2013 D3 Prechampionship manual available online?

Max squad size is 18 roster spots. I haven't looked at diving to know but my guess is the 20 comes from 17 swimmers and 3 divers to use 18 roster spots.

Can't find the D III manual, but D I has gone to 1 diver = 1/2 swimmer, so limit would be 17 swimmers and 2 divers. I think D III is using this formula as well, but can't guarantee it.

On the women's side, through line 14, and including relays, I have squads of 16 for Denison, 15 for Kenyon and 18 for Emory. So I don't see the cap having an impact on women's selections (assuming my placements of swimmers like Kirsten Nitz with multiple possible entries).

On the men's side, the individual A cuts alone bring in 81 swimmers with cut lines of:

line 13 50 free
line 12 100 free
line 8 200 free
line 3 500 free
line 5 1650
line 9 100 back
line 9 200 back
line 6 100 breast
line 8 200 breast
line 25 100 fly
line 19 200 fly
line 8 200 IM
line 4 400 IM

I didn't look at relays but I wonder if they even get to 16 relays for men? I don't think the 16 line for relays is mandatory if they hit the cap first. (There are only a few A relays for each event so that should have no impact on the rules.)

If they invite 25 in the 100 fly and 3 in the 500 that would be a little odd. I say no more A cuts.

16 relays plus the A-cuts leaves about 20 B-invites by my count.
Once a competitive swimmer, you can become anything.

Any schools (e.g., Kenyon, Denison, etc.) look like they'll confront roster cap issues for NCAAs?

That would put it around line 9 for the individual events

Not necessarily - some/many of the fast B-cuts will belong to the 220 or so invited swimmers so they won't count against the tiny B-pool.

Top 20 individual swimmers. Can swim any other event if they meet what we'll call a "bonus" time. Top 16 relays, relay only swimmers get no individual swims. Game.
