What do you predict for nationals? Who is going to shine, who is not?

first meets

Post by screeeeeeeeech » Sat Oct 08, 2011 10:58 am

When are they? Where are they? Who am I supposed to be watching?
I know Emory had a LC meet yesterday, but the 'sults aren't up yet. I'm really curious about that meet because of what I've heard about their frosh in preseason.
Also, Al Davis (Raiders owner) just died...crazy.

WashU freshman Luke Dobben has posted strong times in the distance events off just a few weeks training, going 10:03 in the 1000 last week against Saint Louis, and then 3:49 in the 400 yard freestyle yesterday, so on pace for the 4:48 range.

having a 4:07 and a 4:08 medley relay (meters) is a good start. I'll wait for a yards meet before I speculate on everything else.
Many people think Spain is here...
On the other hand, there is a school of thought that claim Spain is here...those people too are wrong.
Where is Spain? It could here? here?

When I was at Emory, we did a LC double-dual against FAU and Georgia. That would have been about 1990.

Emory replaced their old starting blocks probably about 8 years ago, so I assume they got rid of their old ones. The old ones could be moved to the deep end for LC starts. For 50 starts, there were a set of wooden blocks with astroturf tops, placed on the bulkhead, since the bulkhead doesn't have starting block anchors. The question, therefore is: were there blocks used for the meet, and if so, which ones? I'm going to assume that maybe the wooden blocks were used for the 50's, so maybe not for the 400MR? Someone fill me in.

Or, was the meet held outdoors, at the BETTER of Emory's two LC pools? Hard to believe there are two LC pools on one D-III campus.

kind of cool, everyone swam every event. Nothing can be read into this meet, it was more of a practice than a meet.

Where was the transfer?
Frank: Look, I didn't go to Vietnam just to have pansies like you take my freedom away from me.
Dee: You went to Vietnam in 1993 to open up a sweatshop!
Frank: ...and a lot of good men died in that sweatshop!

My swimmer said they were going off the bulkhead for the meet, after a full practice. I believe the transfer was sick. He is practicing with the team.
