45.5 lead off for Davis in the 400 FR, unreal. If my memory serves me correctly his previous best was 46.9. Huge meet.
ANyone know how rested Scrhanck was?

slipperywalls wrote:What a great meet. Davis and Pelka were incredible as well as Schnack! The meet was incredible and the atmosphere was awesome. All the swimmers seemed to have a great time with the entries and the races were very spirited.
Also getting Rose-Hulman to this meet was a great decision! They definately pushed all the CCIW Schools and I am really glad Coach Caruso earned mens coach of the year; his teams including his women came and did great!
Great Job to all the swimmers and look forward to seeing some of the athletes represent the CCIW at Nationals!!
Some observations from Saturday night:

Are Katie Trella and Chris Trella related? How about Kevin and Brian Stryzek?

Tim Linn was classy, mentioned the Carthage guys in his speech. Carthage screwed up when they lost Kaley Vincent's.

Didn't get why Carthage kept picking "Taking care of business" for their walk-out music.

The pool looked great. The video was awesome and they had a cool banner over lane one. They really should hold the meet there every year.

What was up with Becky Bird?

Didn't think Pelka was all that hot - Cramer beat him in the mile, then he finished dead last in finals of the fly.

200 Fly - Best race of the meet - 4 Guys with cuts.

Brian Busch needs to back off a little that first 25.

North Central's 400 Free Relay splits: 54.6, 1:03.0, 58.4, 56.0 = 3:52.04 - :(

Carthage, IWU, Rose-Hulman and Wheaton get national qualifiers.

Davis' swims were some for the ages. Carthage had three guys win three events but Davis was MVP no doubt. Nutty was deserving of coach of the year. Thought the Rose-Hulman guys swam great, but hard to vote against Earhart in my book.

Wheaton parents said they've got some good recruits for next year.

Great meet.

I think he was referring to the female Pelka, not the male.

Good meet, fast swimming by pretty much all, both male and female.

Were there any time trials? Specifically by Wheaton men's 2 med, and Carthage men's 2 free?

There were time trials, Wheatons and Carthage's men in the 200 med and Wheton and Carthage's women in the 200 free relay, plus I think IWU's Ben Rock did a trial in the 100 Breast, but I think that was it.

So it looks like Wheaton will probably not get a guy to the meet for the first time in as long as I can remember. Total bummer. I was hoping the 1:33.9 would hold up but I don't think it will.

Fast year... They had their shot. Good solid base they have though now, and rumor is a good class coming in? Looks good for the next few years.
