Re: NCAAs 2019

Props to the MIAA. Good week for them. Shout out to Calvin. I think they had the first All American relay since KZoo back in 2010. This is saying a lot. 9 years ago, 3:18 got 2nd in the 4MR. This year, it took 3:16 just to make top 8. I might be wrong, but a couple big heat swims is huge! Conference...

Re: Natatorium Rankings

Kalamazoo Stalls: D no doors, just a half wall that people can see your head poking out of as people walk around the locker room This adds a completely new dynamic to the meet. No better way to establish dominance than to stare someone from the opposing team down when you're taking an open-air dump...

Re: Post MIAA 2019 Discussion

Albion men nickeled and dimed their way to a victory. Is this your way of minimizing their win? Still a little bitter about way the meet is scored? Not bitter at all. Like I mentioned, from top to bottom, Albion was more prepared than Calvin. A touch out here, big heat vs boner heat, little ...

Re: Post MIAA 2019 Discussion

Following this meet from Meet Mobile, it was awesome to watch. Albion men nickeled and dimed their way to a victory. While it has been said that it is Taber's team (seeing as he recruited everyone), Nick did a great job driving his team to improve, prepare, and ultimately punching Calvin right in th...

Re: MIAA In-Season Records

Man, I'm glad I graduated when I did. These kids are too fast. Side note, us old guys can probably relish in the fact that we swam when D3 was in the glory days of swimming from September - February/March, then not looking at a pool and testing our football/ultimate frisbee skills until the followin...

Re: An Ode to K’s Natatorium

Homecoming 3 years ago?
Jumping off the 3 meter and tearing the flag pole out of the deck.
But it's fine. I've done my time.

Re: USRPT

If you looked at Phelps/Lochte going to USRPT and Andrews/Rushall going to Bowman, Phelps and Lochte would be fine - Lochte more so than Phelps because he did some sprint work at Florida for relays. However, the other two could not go train because they have no base. You can't train for a 100 yard d...

Re: USRPT

My point about a 5 day meet is swimming upwards of 7-8000 yards per day (prelims, finals, warm up, warm down, racing, etc) when you are training 4000/day. That's doing double the work. As a teacher, it's like giving my students a 10 question quiz on each chapter, then getting to the final and saying...

Re: USRPT

Physiologically, the aerobic training causes capillarization throughout the muscles. It helps the body transport oxygen, nutrients, and remove waste more efficiently. Without having that (much like training with strictly USRPT), the body doesn't develop to the level necessary for long course competi...
