Re: 2020 NCAAs

Kenyon is conducting an "epic" time trial meet right now.

Re: 2020 NCAAs

I think it puts at risk their chances of competing, and I wouldn’t be surprised if there is a wider NESCAC restriction. Could get interesting. Not sure why this didn't post earlier. Amherst policy is no school funded travel to areas that have declared state of emergency. That means if NC declares s...

Re: Men's NESCACS

So, based on how I understand diving regionals after talking to the experts, it seems that Williams has added one more to their NCAA team with the qualification of Kobe. Correct top 7 male and 7 female divers go to Greensboro. Men's 1m Fagan/Amherst (3), Kobe/Williams (4), Lawrence (7) Tufts who ma...

Re: Men's NESCACS

On the topic of all things Williams congratulations to Cole Kuster for his first Ivy Championship. Showed toughness just like his old man back in his U Penn swimming days.

On the topic of NCAAs what are the chances they are cancelled due to COVID19 measures......I'd say its a coin toss.

Re: Men's NESCACS

Bennett Fagin of Amherst solidly won the 1m diving with a number of really beautifully executed dives. This may be only a rumor, but I heard it said that he came over to diving from football. What is not a rumor is that he gets so much power off the board that the Williams facilities crew had to ex...

Re: Men's NESCACS

Williams really came out swinging this morning and put up some huge swims. Williams certainly has the edge but we have to wait to see what diving ends up being. If Tufts put 3 in the A versus the 1 Williams diver meet could be a lot closer. Amherst and Tufts have each have three each in the A final...

Re: Let's get this party (re)started

Meet outcome was in line with expectations. Close, plenty of fast swims but Williams depth is too much for Amherst. The good guys actually won more events than visitors but didn't have the depth to win the battle of second and third. Amherst set five (5!) pool records and recorded a number of B cuts...

Re: Let's get this party (re)started

Should be THE dual meet of the NESCAC season. A winning streak on the line. Home pool. Very strong Williams team that now has divers. Very little to quibble with in terms of top line predictions made by the Williams faithful here. I think this is close meet. My guess is that Williams will just edge ...

Re: 2019 NCAAs

It's Kai Robinson 09 who is the diving coach. He was a two time national champion and Diver of the Year while at Amherst (he also dove one year at Brown) so he has the necessary background. He has a pretty good set up at Amherst, he teaches at prep school, but who knows. I have no personal knowledge...

Re: 2019 NCAAs

As per TT Coach's request re Amherst men Overall a solid performance in relation to expectations. They managed to outscore Tufts and, as noted elsewhere, every swimmer found the podium Diving We hardly ever discuss diving on this forum, with the exception of Polar Bear, but this is noteworthy. Amher...

Re: 2019 NCAAs

Here is my contribution to the back-of-the-envelope calculations (continuing in the vein of 7th place with 7 swimmers!): Team rank by points/swimmer+diver 1 Denison (31.25) - Team of 18 2 Emory (27.96) - team of 15 3 Kenyon (24.83) - team of 18 4 Williams (23.14) - team of 7 5 JHU (23.07) - team of...

Re: 2019 NCAAs

I agree with the summary and would add the following: Williams did get the most from their small teams and well out performed their projected team scoring finishing up first in terms of conference scoring. With six of the seven national team members returning, and strong incoming class expect Willia...

Re: 2019 NCAA's

Fitch has my vote. 2 individual titles and 1 national record does it for me. Also you have to give the nod to a guy who does flip turns in the 100 fly.
