Re: Natatorium Rankings

Hope: This pool has the potential to have been a great pool, but kind of missed the mark to an extent. The pool has a mildly healthy depth, good chemical balance, and is mildly spacious. It also had a separate diving well (albeit with a dropoff similar to Albion). HOWEVER, that bonus is negated by ...

Re: Post MIAA 2019 Discussion

What a weekend. Every year I reflect and think "this was the most competitive year" and then am outdone by the following one. This was no exception. My (lengthy) thoughts are as follows: - It's been said a few times but deserves to be said about 100 more - Congrats to Coach Patnott. He truly has bee...

Re: MIAA 2019 Thread

Can anyone confirm that the Girls Calvin A relay did in fact DQ this morning meaning Calvin women will not have a scoring relay for the 400 Free Relay? If so, that could shake things up tonight and put Hope in a position to snatch the championship right out from underneath them. Just imagine.

Re: MIAA 2019 Thread

It's officially the best time of the year...thoughts on the first night: Calvin... - Wins with an MIAA record (I think) although Ben Holstege was slower than 2018 and Iturbe was slower than midseason. Still, awesome to see a group of 4 guys average a 1:40.7(ish)...props - I'm impressed with Ryan Gel...

Re: Weekend in Review

Apparently after a scoring error was found, the results of the Women's Calvin vs. Albion meet was reversed. Anyone have any idea what happened? Seems like this should be pretty automated by now. Some of that funny Calvin math?? From what I heard, an exhibition swimmer was scored. I am not exactly s...

Weekend in Review

Wow. What a great weekend for MIAA swimming. Both the Calvin vs. Albion dual meet and the Wheaton Quad not only appeared to be great showdowns between in-conference teams, but everyone threw down some dirty times. I have no idea what teams were "rested" and what teams weren't. Some times appear that...

Re: Albion vs. Calvin

At the end of the day this meet comes down to straight up event wins. With that in mind I completely give Calvin the edge based on both teams previous dual meets. Calvin rolled past hope and didn't even necessarily swim their full lineup. In terms of event splitting I'm guessing it goes like this: ...

Albion vs. Calvin

The meet hasn't happened yet, but I would love to hear the opinions of others for this upcoming meet. Personally, I think that Albion will walk away with an easy win (even with the Calvin dive coach scoring his own divers higher than they deserve and the opponent lower). Everyone talks about Calvin ...

Re: 2017 MIAA predictions

This is a very good point heisenberg, but I don't think "squeaking in at 7th and 8th" is the right word choice here, there are twelve guys in the conference right now who have already gone sub 22. I actually think putting ryan johnson 6th is very generous, because he has really shown us that he doe...

Re: 2017 MIAA predictions

Love the conversation that has started. Let's do this for all the events. The 50 free will definitely be fast this year. I think Johnson gets under 21. He split a 20.39 on a relay at wheaton which shows potential. Training these next 6 weeks will be key. Patnott could really use some sprinters to jo...

Halloween Weekend Meets

Haven't looked at other results yet, but here's thoughts on Hope vs. Zoo: Hope beats Kzoo for the first time since 2010! Great to see a close meet with a good amount of back and forth. Two teams that have a deep rivalry. Here's some things that stuck out: - Zoo wins the first 3 events on the Men's s...

Re: Summer '16 Topics

*Jay Daniels takes over the most storied men's program in the MIAA and is arguably one of the youngest head coaches in the country. Congrats to Jay. -You would lose that argument every time. There are actually a lot of coaches who graduated in 2013 taking the helm for the first time. But I would sa...

Re: Albion vs. Calvin Men

Finally good to see some good dialog on D3. My thoughts... That's an awesome class. Good for Dan, good for Calvin and good for the MIAA! I found a few times that are faster than what you had outlined. They're below off to the right side: Men: Daniel Barros (CAN)-----------No Data --> I'm guessing he...

Re: Albion vs. Calvin Men

I think it's pretty hard to ignore Albion men at this point. If I had to go with my gut i'd say Albion wins MIAA's (by a decent amount of points). Heres's my thought process: 1. Albion has a great incoming recruiting class 2. Calvin lost a lot. Especially with the transfer of Kasper and a great seni...

We also should remember that 2009 was at the peak of the tech suit era. Guarantee most of that final had more than a jammer on.
