Re: 2021 NESCAC Season

I would absolutely take a year off this year. you're paying full tuition for online classes from a top tier school? without any social interaction? no way. stay home, workout, find some other thing to put your focus into. of course this is all dependent on different home and financial situations and...

Re: 2020 NCAA and Coronavirus

Above 2 posts are great. Likely mortality will be in the 0.5%-1% range (based primarily off of subsequent studies in China and the current mortality in S. Korea, who took a "test everyone" approach). Regional variation will have as much to do with healthcare system resiliency as it will the actual v...

Re: 2020 NCAAs

Tufts just moved to online only learning starting on March 15. Students are to move out of the dorms and not return to campus (if possible) through the spring semester. (For those who can't return home, they can stay in the dorms on campus.) Regarding athletics, this is copied: Athletic restrictions...

Re: Men's NESCACS

I think it'll happen. And I hope it does, only for Roger Gu's sake. I want to see what he can do once he's fully shaved and tapered. I think we can all agree seeing an 18 second split would just be awesome. "only for Roger Gu's sake" Come on now. I'd like to see the other NESCAC seniors have a nice...

Re: Men's NESCACS

Grover winning SOTM is good, but it should have been Gu. 1,1,6 plus key leg on 3 winning relays. That is just huge importance and defines someone who shapes the meet, more than just individual swims. That’s how I think about SOTM - who had the biggest impact. It’s Gu. Hands down. Still, awesome meet...

Re: Men's NESCACS

Agree, great write-ups so far. I agree with Jet that Williams is the prohibitive favorite going into this weekend as they have more 3A final swimmers likely than any other team. That said, there is some serious competition in the fly and back events (50/100s of each more than the 200s), and while th...

Re: Women's NESCACS

I’ll be honest, that is a shockingly high tufts A seed group. Yes, absolutely they will come down, but I’ll be honest if I said I wasn’t surprised by that strength of seed. Williams likely still has the meet, but it may be much closer than we previously thought.

Re: Let's get this party (re)started

Well, looks like Tufts depth is no joke. Based on looking at who swam and the roster, it looks like they may have 2 open spots for the NESCAC team. And the Boston open guys didn't make it easy for Hoyt to choose the final two swimmers/divers.. Burnan - 57.6/2:04.7 BR Vollbrechthausen - 21.3/46.7/1:4...

Re: Let's get this party (re)started

@ImJumbo, why did Tufts stop using the Midd invite as their taper meet? It seems like a huge challenge for kids that swim their way onto the CAC team this weekend to double taper in a week and half? No idea. I suspect it has something to do with not having to get hotel rooms or less bus cost or som...

Re: Let's get this party (re)started

anyway.. Tufts is going to the Boston Open this weekend, so first chance to see 1) who is tapering and 2) how they do. There are always a few people who surprise at this meet and wind up making the NESCAC team (last year French went 50.3/1:52 fly and Webster 51.3/1:50.0 back to make the team). Wonde...

Re: Let's get this party (re)started

I think what the above highlights the difference in the previous Tufts depth vs Williams depth, relative to their respective top ends. Tufts for the past few years has had a higher floor but somewhat lower or less dominant ceiling. Think 2018 when Tufts won, every swimmer scored, but not every swimm...

Re: Let's get this party (re)started

Roger Gu going 19.7 at Hamilton is dumb. DUMB! Guy goes the 41st fastest time in the country in a speedo at Hamilton. That is D. U. M. B. (dumb). An extremely tiny part of me is sad that tufts will be getting a new pool eventually, cause it would be cool to go back to Hamilton in 2060 for an alumni...

Re: Let's get this party (re)started

I think it'll be interesting to see how both Tufts and Williams do going up against MIT, and whether MIT throws its full weight against either team or both teams.

Re: Let's get this party (re)started

Huge swim from tufts freshman LaBarge, throwing down a 20.6 at Hamilton. Tufts is starting to look scary in that 200 free relay, as they could well have 4 guys sub 21 individually and could maybe push 1:19... 😳
