2016-17 Season

Anybody out there?? Most of the way through the first half of the season the Gettysburg and Swarthmore men are both undefeated and will meet on January 28 with the winner likely going undefeated in dual meets for the season. They will also meet at the invite hosted by Gettysburg on Dec 2-3. Gettysbu...

Re: I always thought James Born would be the best D3 swimmer

I just meant it as an interesting stat and I agree that it is a bit off the subject. But I have always been interested in swimmers that were just average through some "advanced age" (like 18 or so) and then find a gear that very few swimmers have. The National Age Group record holders are one group ...

Re: I always thought James Born would be the best D3 swimmer

Turk was a 21.18 swimmer coming out of high school. So his D3 record of 19.38 is a 9.92% improvement from a decent high school time to a now 3 year old record.
Andrew Wilson has now gone from being an OK high school 100 Breast at 59.8 to a remarkable 51.72, an improvement of nearly 13%.

Re: 2015 NESCAC MENS CHAMPIONSHIPS

It's going to be very interesting to see what happens next for Williams at nationals. I have no way to know if their top guys were fully tapered or not (given the times of the top swimmers, most of whom went lifetime bests, it's hard to believe they weren't fully rested) and whether or not the same...

Re: Nats, Who Ya Got?

Divers are counted the same as swimmers for the meet cap. It's only for team cap that the weird 1/3 rule comes into play. Can a team go over 18 participants if they have one diver? Or would they need two divers to cut back a swimmer? One diver counts as one swimmer. 2 divers count as one swimmer. 3...

Re: Nats, Who Ya Got?

Don't hold me to this as my process is far from perfect, but my estimate is line 17 on the Women's side with one in line 18 after meet scratches from Emory/Kenyon. Emory will need to drop 2 swimmers, and Kenyon 1 assuming their diver qualifies again. How does that square with the line being at 20 l...

Re: Nats, Who Ya Got?

So Schiller, why are there entries with no B cuts? What could the coach possibly by trying to prove (or gain)? I assume that the swimmer is in the meet because of a relay and then since this whole thing comes out of the USA Swimming database, once they are in the meet, the database populates the en...

Re: Nats, Who Ya Got?

Elm, they might not be swimming those events. No entries can be added at this point. And it doesn't look like Denison will have to worry about the team cap, I count 15 swimmers making it for them, so they'd need 10 divers to qualify in order for it to be an issue. Thanks - I didn't count up the Den...

Entries were due at 8pm last night. I think that swimmers that are not on the list are not entered in the meet for any number of reasons.

Re: Nats, Who Ya Got?

Does Denison have to cut down to 18 or 17? I would assume 17 swimmers to account for a diver(s) being selected this weekend. If that is the case, what happens if Denison cuts down to 17 swimmers and none of their divers make the meet... I think they have to cut to 18 now and then after divers quali...

Re: Nats, Who Ya Got?

The uncut entries list is posted on USA swimming. Teams need to cut down to 18 swimmers (if that is a problem) today I think. Then there will be a bit more shuffling to deal the diver entries (Denison may be the only team having to deal with this and their 18 entry limit).

Re: MIAA at NCAA

The USA swimming database which is the official one that schools have to submit to is up to date with all the weekend meets although I am still not sure how the aggregates get done. The women's relays were affected by the MIAC in particular, St. Thomas and Gustavus are in the top 16 in 3-4 of the 5 ...
