Re: 2021 NESCAC Season

I don't want to "out" anyone, but several top Williams men's swimmers have committed to taking the year off and returning to what will presumably be a full NESCAC season next year. Should make for a very interesting 2021-2022 season as many of the best swimmers over a five year period compete for c...

Re: 2021 NESCAC Season

Bowdoin had an alumni town hall during which they said some interesting stuff: - At least some of next year will be remote because some faculty have pre-existing conditions - They are coordinating with other NESCAC schools - Someone asked about athletics and they said they were important and hoped n...

Re: Class of 2024

Since there is nothing else to do . . . Saw a few recent commitments - Amherst - Grace Walker (her sister had the 50 free record at Bowdoin): 23.9 / 52.7, 57 fly - Nolan Scanlan: Pretty much everything, 1:49 back, 52.7 100IM in a time trial before the shutdown, 1:52 IM, 50.4 fly. I would expect some...

Re: 2020 NCAAs

Bates's Draper went a 21.67 at NESCACs in the 50 free which is a hair faster than Cory's 50 free (21.70). Hopefully all will be a little faster next year which will be needed to get an invite. You're right - medley will be tough with the loss of Charest and Fuller. the season is so crazy, though, a...

Re: 2020 NCAAs

That's quick! I just checked Bates' instagram too and saw Berry went 20.3. Confidence booster for him after an up and down season Any idea what Bates has coming next year? If they can get a fourth to put with Berry-Marcolina-Cory they could have a nice 200FR. I see the medley as a lot harder for th...

Re: 2020 NCAAs

Tufts just moved to online only learning starting on March 15. Students are to move out of the dorms and not return to campus (if possible) through the spring semester. (For those who can't return home, they can stay in the dorms on campus.) Regarding athletics, this is copied: Athletic restriction...

Re: 2020 NCAA and Coronavirus

Latest concern from athletes isn't related to traveling or getting covid19 but possibly having to self quarantine for 14 days when they get back to campus and miss an additional 2 weeks of school right before finals (at least for Bates since their schedule is a little different)? not sure if the co...

Bowdoin hosting women's basketball tournament this weekend and will do so without spectators.

CT also cancelled states, a number of NESCAC recruits coming out of that area and one of the events was to be swum at Wes

Re: Men's NESCACS

This is very good analysis, but focusing on the top alone may give a bit of a distorted position. Look how fats it was to make the 3d relay this year -- I believe 3:17 and 6:43. I actually thought the 800 was a little slower, but that fast a medley for third is pretty darn fast. Next year could see ...

Re: Men's NESCACS

Some is this is that fast kids want to swim for fast teams. Williams and Tufts are winning. Hamilton, Trinity, et al are not. That may be the primary driver of this. I think this is the key here. Recruiting has almost become an arms race. It's not that the schools at the bottom of the standings are...

Re: Men's NESCACS

First and foremost - congrats to everyone on a really fast weekend - really impressed with lots of swimmers and congrats to Williams on the victory. Really confusing weekend from Colby all-around. Some really impressive swims combined with some misses - sometimes even by the same swimmers! Here are...
